Wisconsin Weather Update for September 27, 2005.

Good Tuesday morning!

Rectangular Prisms!
Yes, we have two brand new rectangular prisms in our house, purchased over the last couple of weeks. We have a new curio cabinet for our living room, which is great because we're able to finally put all our little knick-knacks and statues in one convenient and pleasant-looking place. And it doubles as an additional light for the living room, which is a nice bonus.

We also got a new freezer for our basement last week, courtesy of a gift from my Grandpa Pachucki (my mom's dad). This is something we've been talking about getting for a while now, because our current side-by-side refrigerator/freezer is quite small - so small that we have to take frozen pizzas out of the box before we can even fit them in! But no more! Now we have a nice big convenient place to store all sorts of frozen goods, and we've already filled it up quite a bit after a Sam's Club trip hours after the freezer arrived.

What, no games?
You read that right. There are no games this week as we are in-between seasons. Season Four will begin on Tuesday, October 4th and feature a big rule change to make things more competitive. We also forked over $25 at Target over the weekend so we can debut a brand new game this season. I've mentioned the changes to a select few people and the response seems to be a big thumbs up, so look forward to that next week (and maybe a hint or two at the changes to come before the end of the week ). But for now, on to my main specialty, web design...errr...the forecast!

Todays forecast grade: A-

Weather Statement: (Courtesy of the National Weather Service)
Southern Wisconsin:
Expect patchy fog over southern Wisconsin early this morning... especially in low lying areas and river valleys. When encountering some of these fog patches...visibilities could drop from several miles to less than a quarter mile in very short distances. Motorists should be alert for this possibility and use extra caution while traveling around the region.

Now: At 7am there is nary a cloud in the sky! Temps are a little cool though, in the low to mid- 40s. The cold spot is Merrill, Wisconsin, freezing at 32 degrees Fahrenheit, or 0 degrees Celsius. Is it just me or is it sad when I can spell Fahrenheit correctly without having to look it up?

Synopsis: A rather large area of high pressure is currently located just to our southwest, centered near St. Louis. This will give us a very pleasant Tuesday, but look for a new villain in the form of a cold front currently near the Ontario/Minnesota border, that might give us some thundershowers overnight and tomorrow morning.

Today: Mostly sunny and very pleasant today, but don't get too used to the warm temperatures. Breezy at times, high of 71 central, lower 70s south.

Tonight: Becoming mostly cloudy and breezy with a chance of showers. Lows mid- 50s.

Tomorrow: Cloudy and windy with scattered thundershowers developing, mostly early in the day. It's going to get rather nippy behind the cold front as cold Canadian air begins its 7-month reign over Wisconsin. Highs only in the lower 60s and even colder on Thursday. Rain chance tomorrow morning 60%, tomorrow afternoon 30%.

Thursday: Partly cloudy and cool, highs near 60.
Friday: Partly cloudy, breezy and a little warmer, highs 65-70.
Saturday: Partly sunny, not as breezy, highs upper 60s to near 70.
Sunday: Partly cloudy, highs upper 60s to near 70.

Today in Las Vegas, Nevada: Isolated thunderstorms, highs upper 80s.

Today in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina: Isolated thunderstorms, highs lower 80s.
Through 8 am...scattered rain showers will continue to affect portions of southeast South Carolina. While most of the heavy rain showers have pushed offshore...lingering light rain showers mainly east of Interstate 95 will bring rain totals of a few hundredths of an inch.

Today in League City and Pearland, Texas: Partly cloudy, hot and humid, highs mid- 90s, dew points near 80 (ick!). Glad to hear you guys didn't have much damage from Rita.
Heat advisory in effect until 7 PM CDT this evening...
The National Weather Service in League City has extended the heat
advisory for all of southeast Texas through 7 PM today.

Afternoon temperatures are expected to once again exceed record levels
across southeast Texas today. Actual high temperatures will range from
the mid and upper 90s across the eastern counties to 100 to 103 over
the western counties. Near the coast actual high temperatures will be
in the 90s. Heat indices will reach 108 to 115 over most locations.

Today in Georgetown, Kentucky: Sunshine, highs upper 70s.
