Important Weather Statement: (Courtesy of the National Weather Service)
Winter Storm Watch in effect from late tonight through Thursday afternoon...
4 to 8 inches of snow will fall beginning around 3 am and
continuing through Thursday. The heaviest snow will fall west and
south of Madison.
A Winter Storm Watch is issued when heavy snow... sleet... or
freezing rain is expected to accumulate to levels that will cause
major impacts to Commerce and society. Continue to monitor the
latest forecasts for updates and possible warnings.
Now: At 8am with sunshine and lighter winds compared to yesterday, temps are in the low to mid- 20s.
Synopsis: Consider today the calm before the storm, as we are smack dab in the middle between two strong storm systems! Yesterday, the computer weather models strengthened tonight's storm system, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a Winter Storm Watch for most of Wisconsin. This morning's model run has the storm focusing more to the south, so the watch was cancelled for the Fox Cities, but southern Wisconsin is still expecting 5-7" of fresh powder out of this thing by tomorrow afternoon and central Wisconsin 2-4". There is some model discrepancy with some predicting higher amounts in central Wisconsin as well, so stay tuned!
Today: Mostly sunny with some high cirrus clouds. Overall a pretty nice day! Just don't read tomorrow's forecast. High of 36 central, upper 30s south.
Tonight: Becoming breezy again with snow developing overnight. Lows lower 20s.
Tomorrow: Snow likely, ending just before sunset. Current estimates are for 5-7" of total accumulation in southern Wisconsin and 2-4" central, but those amounts may vary locally and could change with the 10 a.m. model run so stay tuned to the latest forecasts to see just how bad it's going to get. Highs lower 30s.
Friday: Partly cloudy, highs near 30 central, lower 30s south.
Saturday: Partly cloudy, highs near 30 central, lower 30s south.
Sunday: Partly cloudy, highs mid- 30s. And I hate to say this but next week isn't looking much warmer.
Today in Las Vegas, Nevada: Sunshine, decreasing winds, highs upper 60s.
Today in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina: Sunshine, breezy, a little cooler, highs upper 60s.
Today in League City and Pearland, Texas: Increasing clouds and winds with scattered thunderstorms developing late. Highs lower 70s.
Today in Evansville, Indiana: Sunshine, highs upper 50s.
