Sunny, hot and somewhat humid weather continues. Maybe a random tropical thunderstorm from time to time.
High pressure remains in general control of our region, meaning the trend of morning sunshine with some afternoon clouds should continue. The upper-air jet stream looks to continue its northerly ridge, so expect the hot temperatures to continue through the weekend and into next week. There’s just enough humidity in the air to generate a few clouds, especially later in the day, with a random tropical thunderstorm possible each day. I suspect any rain we get will only last a few minutes though, so enjoy your hot summer weekend!

Sunny and seasonable today, getting hot again by Wednesday.
A very pleasant, seasonable day is on tap for this halfway point to Christmas day. Keep an eye out for a cloud this afternoon, you just might see one! A large, slow-moving area of high pressure centered just north of Minnesota should keep us dry for the next few days. A wind shift starting tomorrow will bring the heat and humidity back to Wisconsin by Wednesday, with highs back in the 80s and even lower 90s possible, and this heat looks to continue right through the weekend and into the start of next week. Summer is finally here (as of June 20) so enjoy!

Scattered storms this evening, more storms tomorrow night, then dry.
A weak upper-level disturbance could develop a few scattered thunderstorms late this afternoon and into this evening, then a cold front moves through tomorrow night, developing more scattered thunderstorms across Wisconsin. A large area of high pressure looks to move through the Midwest starting later on Sunday and lingering through Wednesday, so we should be dry for a few days again. But with all the rain we’ve finally gotten over the last few days, I won’t mind. Seasonal summer temperatures are generally expected, so get out and enjoy!

Where’s the rain?
Central and southern Wisconsin just missed out on a nice soaking rain yesterday afternoon as a blob of rain moved across northern Wisconsin. All we got here were clouds. Well the good news is that there’s plenty more chances for rain over the next week, thanks to a nearly-stationary area of low pressure in Manitoba, Canada, but the bad news is that the chances of rain each day aren’t exactly great. Warmer air moves back into the region with highs in the 80s expected through the weekend and most of next week. A few 90s may even crop up in a few spots over the next week as well. http://weather.unisys.com/gfsx/gfsx.php?inv =0&plot=pres®ion=us&t=9p Today’s Forecast Grade: B Short-Term Forecast Confidence: Medium Wisconsin Forecast: Today’s Conditions: Mostly cloudy, warmer and somewhat humid. Maybe a thunderstorm later today? Chance of rain just 25%. Today’s High Temps: Near 84 east-central, mid- to upper 80s south. Maybe a spot or two will even hit 90 today. Today’s Winds: A little breezy from the south. Raw Model Data: (combined numerical output range from three different NOAA weather models) Appleton: High of 83. Madison: Highs 86-89. Milwaukee: Highs 84-85. http://www.nws.noaa.gov/cgi-bin/mos/ getall.pl?sta=KATW&sta=KMSN&sta=KMKE Tonight: Maybe a thundershower in the evening, but probably not. Lows in the mid- 60s. Tomorrow’s Temps: Highs in the low to mid- 80s. Tomorrow’s Winds: Somewhat breezy from the southwest. Sunday: Partly sunny during the day, maybe a storm Sunday night? Highs in the lower 80s. Chance of rain 25%. Next Week’s Outlook: Conditions: This trend of small chances of thunderstorms looks to continue next week, with the best chance perhaps not until Thursday.
