Good Friday morning!
What's the deal with this fog?
Mild air ahead of a strong area of low pressure just to our north will keep us warm, foggy and drizzly for one more day. This nearly-stationary system has brought warm, stagnant air to our region, and with both temperatures and dew points near 40, our relative humidity near 100%, and a light or calm wind, this created our blanket of fog yesterday and will continue today. Snow, we hardly knew ye.
Are these warmer temperatures going to stick around?
Yes - in fact, temperatures should remain above-normal through the end of this year! Unfortunately, the moment our clocks strike midnight tonight, a cold front will sweep through and rapidly drop our temperatures about 20 degrees. This means you can not only expect a return of cold temperatures through the weekend and next week, but any water lingering on roadways could "flash freeze" tonight, making roads icy really quickly if you're driving home from a New Year's party.
