Wisconsin Weather Update

Wisconsin Weather Update for September 28, 2010.

By: HaleStorm, 12:17 PM GMT on September 28, 2010

Good Tuesday morning!

Wisconsin Forecast Synopsis
Clouds and slightly cooler temperatures are in store for Wisconsinites today courtesy of a weak cold front currently draped over northern Wisconsin this morning. We may see a sprinkle or two at times but otherwise expect just mostly cloudy and cool conditions. The clouds should clear up tonight as the cold front moves away, but clouds may return tomorrow afternoon and evening as a new low pressure system moves across central Canada. Most of the rain from this system should stay north of the border, but a few stray showers may make it into Wisconsin tomorrow night. I don't expect any significant rainfall though, and the rest of the week looks dry and cool with highs in the 60s gradually turning into 50s by the weekend.

Wisconsin Weather Update for September 24, 2010.

By: HaleStorm, 12:34 PM GMT on September 24, 2010

Good Friday morning!

Wisconsin Forecast Synopsis
After these past two days of flooding rains, you will be glad to read that we're probably going to stay dry for a while. A warm front moved through Wisconsin on Wednesday, which brought us brief warm and humid air along with those showers and thunderstorms (a couple of which were severe in southern Wisconsin). This was followed by a cold front yesterday, which brought even more heavy rainfall.

Today you'll feel the aftereffects of this cold front with lingering winds from the strong low pressure system (centrally located in northern Wisconsin this morning) bringing in colder air from the northwest. Temperatures are in the upper 50s this morning and probably aren't going anywhere until tonight, when we'll drop into the 40s. A new, weak system may bring a shower or two to southern Wisconsin late tomorrow, but otherwise we should be dry through not only the rest of this week, but next week as well.

NowCast: (Source: National Weather Service)
Southern Wisconsin:
Look for gusty southwest winds to diminish briefly...then turn west and increase again as a cold front moves east of southern Wisconsin early this morning. The front is expected to clear east of a Milwaukee to Kenosha line between 6 am and 630 am. Scattered light rain showers will exit southeast Wisconsin by 630 am with the front. Temperatures will be falling into the 50s behind the front...under cloudy skies.

Temperatures cool off a bit tomorrow behind the cold front, but get warm again on Thursday as another storm system moves through which could bring more heavy rainfall to the state.

Wisconsin Weather Update for September 17, 2010.

By: HaleStorm, 2:58 PM GMT on September 17, 2010

Good Friday morning!

Wisconsin Forecast Synopsis
A narrow line of rain showers is slowly moving through central Wisconsin this morning, moving very slowly to the east-southeast, and may linger through early this afternoon before eventually dissipating. This rain is developing ahead of a low pressure system in north-central Canada and its associated cold front stretching southward through Minnesota. The rain is expected to intensify again tonight and slowly move out of our state from north to south tomorrow as this cold front slowly moves through Wisconsin. Those of us in northern and central Wisconsin will struggle to even hit 60 degrees tomorrow as cooler air moves in behind the front. We should be dry Sunday and Monday before a new system moves through next week Tuesday.

Wisconsin Weather Update for September 14, 2010.

By: HaleStorm, 12:32 PM GMT on September 14, 2010

Good Tuesday morning!

Weather Update Returns
After a two week break, my Weather Update blog is back, but with a new Tuesday/Friday schedule. I originally avoided Fridays because many people who read this just get the email at work, and if they decide to take a long weekend, they won't see it until Monday when it's not nearly as useful. Now that I'm posting this on Facebook and Twitter in addition to wisconsinweatherupdate.com, more people can read this outside of email, making it more Friday-friendly.

Wisconsin Forecast Synopsis
With just over a week before the Autumnal Equinox, we've entered the typical weather pattern where the high temperatures fluctuate between 60s and 70s. We're still about three weeks away from the Fox Valley's average first hard freeze however.

A cold front moved through Wisconsin yesterday and is now draped over the southern parts of South Dakota, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, etc. Temperatures will be a little cooler today compared to yesterday with highs in the 60s to near 70 expected, and the air will feel drier as well with comfortable dew points only in the 40s. We may see a few clouds and sprinkles today ahead of our next developing storm out west. Tomorrow looks rather wet, but then we should be dry until this weekend.
