Wisconsin Weather Update for July 22, 2010.

By: HaleStorm, 12:47 PM GMT on July 22, 2010

Good Thursday morning!

Yesterday’s Wisconsin Weather Recap
I hope you enjoyed our one-day vacation from showers and thunderstorms! Yesterday we had rare afternoon and evening sunshine with high temperatures in the mid- 80s, but more comfortable dew points near 60.
http://www.weather.gov/climate/index.php

Today’s Wisconsin Forecast Synopsis
I hope you spent yesterday completing your ark and obtaining two of each type of animal! We're continuing to make up for last year's lack of storms with yet another round of soaking showers and thunderstorms today. Low pressure in the Dakotas is developing a solid blob of rain through southern Minnesota and the western half of Wisconsin as I write this. It's a slow-mover, so as much as I hate to even write it, it's looking like many areas could see a fresh 1-3" of rainfall by this evening. We had some nasty hail fall in the Fox Valley on Tuesday (penny size hail at our house but golf ball to almost tennis ball sized in other areas!) Hopefully we don't see another repeat performance of that hail, but there is a slight risk of severe weather today, tomorrow, and Saturday.

Wisconsin Weather Update for July 19, 2010.

By: HaleStorm, 12:55 PM GMT on July 19, 2010

Good Monday morning!

Weekend Wisconsin Weather Recap
Wisconsin enjoyed another warm and humid weekend. Showers and thunderstorms moved through early Sunday morning, briefly knocking out the power at our house and scaring the boys and our dog a bit, but otherwise just the typical tropical "popcorn" variety showed up during the afternoon and evening. Except for Sheboygan, where a brief tornado was reported to have touched down along I-43.
http://www.jsonline.com/news/wisconsin/98711884.html
http://www.weather.gov/climate/index.php

Today’s Wisconsin Forecast Synopsis
A cold front moved through Wisconsin yesterday, although we're not going to really feel any cooler or less humid behind it with dew points still in the mid- to upper 60s. If you're eager for a prolonged stretch of dry weather, you're going to have to wait a little longer as our next storm system is revving up in the Dakotas this morning. It will arrive tonight and generate even more rainfall to our already soggy backyards. After tonight, we may get a break in the action until Thursday, but warm and humid temperatures will again prevail through the week. With warm and humid air remaining in place, you can never rule out an afternoon or evening storm, even if the daytime forecast for today, tomorrow and Wednesday is calling for mostly dry conditions.

NowCast: (Source: National Weather Service)
Fox Cities:
... Patchy dense fog this morning...
Light winds and a moist surface has produced areas of fog
across the region this morning. The fog will be locally dense
with visibilities one quarter mile or less. Motorists should be
alert for rapidly reduced visibilities in these pockets of dense
fog during the morning commute and allow extra driving distance.
The fog is expected to dissipate around 8 am.
http://www.wunderground.com/DisplayDisc.asp?DiscussionCode=GRB

Southern Wisconsin:
Look for patchy fog around southern Wisconsin through mid morning. Visibility in a few locations will drop to around 1/2 mile at times. Do use caution while traveling this morning...be prepared for rapidly changing conditions through about 9 am.

Wisconsin Weather Update for July 15, 2010.

By: HaleStorm, 12:59 PM GMT on July 15, 2010

Good Thursday morning!

Yesterday’s Wisconsin Weather Recap
Well that was an interesting day of weather. Strength and timing of thunderstorms may have varied depending on where you live, but here in the Fox Valley three rounds of severe thunderstorms rumbled through at 3pm, 7pm, and midnight. Strong winds, frequent lightning and flooding rains were the biggest threats yesterday, although some small hail (mostly <1") and even a couple weak rain-wrapped tornadoes were reported in the state.
http://www.weather.gov/climate/index.php

Today’s Wisconsin Forecast Synopsis
A cold front is working its way across Wisconsin this morning, with the last round of showers and storms still lingering in eastern Wisconsin early this morning. Eventually these clouds are going to start clearing out later today and we should enjoy a pleasantly quiet afternoon and evening. However, even though we'll be seeing our dew point and relative humidity dropping behind the cold front, our overall high temperatures will stay very warm in the 80s for the foreseeable future. Humid conditions may return by this weekend as well.

Wisconsin Weather Update for July 12, 2010.

By: HaleStorm, 12:48 PM GMT on July 12, 2010

Good Monday morning!

Wisconsin Forecast Synopsis
This past weekend's weather featured warm and somewhat humid conditions along with scattered showers and thunderstorms, some of which became severe with strong winds and hail. Today a cold front is moving through Wisconsin, meaning we could see another popcorn thundershower this afternoon, although I think it will be a little less likely today compared to the scattered storms we had this weekend. High pressure moves in behind the cold front, which should keep us dry from tonight through Wednesday afternoon. There's not a lot of cold air behind this cold front, so don't expect high temperatures to drop more than five degrees after it passes, and things get warm and humid once again for the second half of our week.

Clouds dominated our day yesterday, and were occasionally joined by a rain shower or isolated thunderstorm. High temperatures were near 80 but muggy dew points remained in the upper 60s to near 70 all day.

Our warm, muggy, and occasionally wet weather pattern is going to continue through Thursday. High temperatures will be rather consistent, near or just above 80, but dew points in the upper 60s to lower 70s will make things feel a little more sticky out there.

Good Thursday morning!

Yesterday’s Wisconsin Weather Recap
What an outstanding day of weather! We had lots of sunshine and comfortable high temperatures in the mid- 70s.
http://www.weather.gov/climate/index.php

Today’s Wisconsin Forecast Synopsis
A slow-moving area of high pressure currently stretching from Hudson Bay, Canada through the Ohio Valley promises more sunshine across most of the state today. A small disturbance is creating a few showers in far northern Wisconsin and western Lake Superior this morning, but all we might see around here is a few clouds. Warmer air is also beginning to move into the Midwest, so expect yesterday's highs in the mid- 70s to travel into the upper 70s to near 80 today, then in the 80s through our holiday weekend.

Today’s Forecast Grade: A-

Madison: Highs 77-80.
Waukesha: Highs 75-78.
http://www.nws.noaa.gov/cgi-bin/mos/getall.pl?sta=KATW&sta=KMSN&sta=KUES

Tonight: Mostly clear, lows in the upper 50s.

Independence Day Weekend:
Saturday: More sunshine and a clear sky, which is good news for evening fireworks! Highs 83-88.
