TriBond Results
These were two challenging TriBonds - only half of you got both of them right. For #2, I got a lot of answers that were close, but you only got credit if you included the word "removed."

Autumn 2007 Point Standings
Power of 10 week is always fun in my opinion because it can really shuffle up the standings. In this case, two people got promoted to the Top Nine while two others fell below. There's just two weeks left in the current season before the playoff week!

Today’s Thought: I was going to write about the Packers game last night, but that didn't go over so well (although Aaron Rodgers did impress me!), so instead I'll quickly talk about yesterday afternoon. Our staff went to The Players Choice here in Appleton for a couple hours of team-building activities (setup a tent with everyone blindfolded except for one person, etc.) But we also played about six games of dodgeball. Yep, dodgeball, the game probably none of us have played since grade school. And I had completely forgotten how much fun that game was. What a blast!

Today’s Forecast Grade: B-
Important Weather Statement: (Source: National Weather Service)
Northern Wisconsin:
... Winter Storm Watch in effect from Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning...
The National Weather Service in Green Bay has issued a Winter
Storm Watch... which is in effect from Saturday afternoon through
Sunday morning.
Snow... heavy at times... is expected to develop across north central
Wisconsin Saturday afternoon. The snow will mix with sleet and freezing
rain after midnight Saturday night... then taper off to light snow
or flurries Sunday morning. Total snowfall accumulations are
expected to be 6 to 10 inches.
A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant
snow... sleet... or ice accumulations that may impact travel.

Fox Cities:
... Significant winter storm to affect northeast Wisconsin this weekend...
Winter Storm Watch in effect from Saturday afternoon through Saturday evening...
Snow... heavy at times... is expected to develop across east
central Wisconsin Saturday afternoon. The snow will mix with
sleet... rain and freezing rain Saturday evening. Precipitation
will taper off to light rain or freezing drizzle shortly after
midnight Saturday night. Snowfall accumulations are expected to be 4
to 7 inches before the changeover... with lesser amounts near Lake
Michigan.
A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant
snow... sleet... or ice accumulations that may impact travel.

Southern Wisconsin:
The light snow has ended west of Madison and was beginning to exit southeast Wisconsin early this morning. Look for all the snow to end in the far southeast between 6 and 7 am. Any additional accumulations will be under 1/2 inch. Most of the snow overnight fell north of Milwaukee and Madison...so roads may be a little slippery for a time this morning...especially on secondary roads. No snowfall reports have come into the office at this early hour...but given the snowfall rates and the period of snowfall...any amounts are expected to be an inch or less. Look for sunshine across all of the area by mid morning.
-----------------
... Major snow and ice storm expected Saturday afternoon...
Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from Saturday afternoon through late Saturday night...
Snow is expected to develop Saturday morning across southern
Wisconsin and become heavy at times by afternoon. Snow amounts
are expected to range from around 1 inch along the Wisconsin
Illinois border to nearly 6 inches in the Montello... Fond Du Lac
and Sheboygan areas... before the precipitation changes to sleet
and freezing rain.
Of more concern is the amount of freezing rain and ice that could
accumulate on top of the snow by Saturday night. Current
indications are that widespread accumulations of sleet and
freezing rain totaling one quarter to one half inch will fall on
top of the snow. Travel conditions will likely turn hazardous and
very difficult. The potential for ice accumulations to damage
trees and power lines also needs to be considered. Ice
accumulations would likely be highest away from the warmer shores
of Lake Michigan.
A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant
snow... sleet... or ice accumulations that may impact travel.
Continue to monitor the latest forecasts and listen for later
statements on this developing winter storm.

Wisconsin Forecast:
Now: At 7am with sunshine and breezy conditions, temps are in the single digits above zero north, the mid- teens central and upper teens south.

Synopsis: The weather map for today isn't all that interesting, with just a weak low pressure system just to our east which gave our porch a dusting of snow last night. However, tomorrow's weather map will be much more interesting, as a panhandle-hook low-pressure system moves through the Rocky Mountains, Kansas and Missouri, soaking up lots of moisture from the Gulf of Mexico, then shooting northeast thanks to the upper-air jet stream. Meteorologists will be closely monitoring the air temperature as just a couple degrees of difference could mean the difference between a lot of snow, a mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain, or an overhyped mostly rain event.

Today: Partly cloudy and breezy. Highs mid- teens north, 21 central, and mid- 20s south.
Tonight: Increasing clouds, cold, lows near zero north, 5-10 above zero central, and lower teens south.
Saturday: Becoming cloudy and windy with snow developing around lunchtime and becoming heavy at times during the afternoon and evening. Snow will turn to sleet, freezing rain and/or rain from south to north in the evening as warmer air moves into Wisconsin, and the timing of this changeover could significantly affect total accumulations. Highs mid- 20s north, lower 30s central and south. Total expected snow accumulations by Sunday morning are for 6-10" north, 4-7" central and 2-3" south. Chance of snow 90%.
Sunday: Morning and perhaps early afternoon light snow showers, otherwise mostly cloudy and still windy. Highs near 30 north, mid- 30s central and south. Chance of snow 40%.
Next Week:
Monday: Cloudy and breezy, highs 25-30.
Tuesday: More snow, this time from an Alberta Clipper. Could be several more inches. Highs 23-28. Chance of snow 35%.
Wednesday: Light snow or flurries, highs 25-30.
Other City Forecasts:
This Weekend in Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota: Sunshine today, heavy snow tomorrow, clouds Sunday. Highs low to mid- 20s.
... Winter storm watches remain in effect for much of the gopher state and western Wisconsin for this weekend...
... Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from Saturday morning through late Saturday night...
The first winter storm of the season remains poised to affect
much of Minnesota and western Wisconsin this weekend. A strong
area of low pressure developing in the Colorado rockies will lift
north into Nebraska by Saturday evening. A broad band of snow is
expected to develop well ahead of the low on Saturday spreading
across much of Minnesota and western Wisconsin. The low will cross
Iowa Saturday night reaching Wisconsin Sunday morning. Enough warm
air is expected to be pulled north ahead of the low to bring a
period of sleet or even freezing rain into southern Minnesota and
into west central Wisconsin... especially Saturday evening. Sleet
could reach as far north as the Twin Cities Metro area and
Chippewa Falls... Wisconsin. This storm has the potential of
producing snow totals in excess of six inches across much of
southern and central Minnesota and western Wisconsin. Of
course... any areas which experience significant freezing rain or
sleet will see diminished snow totals. Gusty north to northwest
winds will also develop late Saturday night and Sunday which could
cause reduced visibility in blowing and drifting snow.
Travel conditions are expected to deteriorate rapidly on Saturday
as bands of heavy snow move across southern into central
Minnesota and west central Wisconsin.
A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant
snow... sleet... or ice accumulations that may impact travel.

This Weekend in League City and Pearland, Texas: Becoming partly cloudy today, isolated thundershowers possible tomorrow and Sunday, highs lower 70s today and upper 70s tomorrow and Sunday.
... Dense fog advisory remains in effect until 9 am CST this morning...
The combination of clear skies... light southeast winds... and
abundant low level moisture have resulted in development of
widespread dense fog overnight and this morning. Many locations
are reporting visibilities of 1/4 mile or less. Conditions are
expected to improve by mid morning.
Motorists should drive with extreme caution and allow additional
travel time. Use low beams... reduce driving speed... and allow for
plenty of room between you and other cars. You can overtake
another vehicle quickly in poor visibilities... so slow down and
drive defensively.
