Updated...satellite imagery indicates that a small area of low pressure has developed about 100 miles southwest of Zihuatanejo, Mexico. While it currently appears that this system lacks a closed surface circulation...It is producing winds near tropical storm force just offshore of the southern coast of Mexico as it moves quickly west-northwestward at around 20 MPH.
Showers and thunderstorms are showing signs of organization in association with an area of low pressure located about 400 miles southwest of Acapulco Mexico. Environmental conditions appear conducive for development and this system could become a Tropical Depression during the next day or two as it moves west- northwestward at around 15 MPH
There is a HIGH chance of the second paragraph disturbance to form into a tropical cyclone within the next 48 hours. The first paragraph tropical disturbance has a MODERATE chance of developing..

At 10:00 PM PhST, Tropical Storm Karen (Sanba) located at 11.6°N 133.0°E or 740 km east of Borongan, Eastern Samar has 10 minute sustained winds of 35 knots with gusts of 50 knots. The cyclone is reported as moving northwest at 8 knots.

Estimated rainfall amount is from 10-20 mm per hour (moderate to heavy) within the 300 km diameter of the tropical storm.
Fishing boats and other small seacrafts are advised not to venture out into the eastern seaboard of Visayas and Mindanao due to Tropical Storm "Karen".
Meanwhile, the low pressure area was estimated at 240 km west of Zambales (15.0°N, 117.5°E).
