TROPICAL STORM CARINA (TALIM) FINAL
11:00 PM PhST June 20 2012
===========================================

Tropical Storm "CARINA" has maintained its strength as it moved out of the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

At 10:00 PM PhST, Tropical Storm Carina (Talim) located at 25.3°N 121.2°E or 480 km north of Basco, Batanes has 10 minute sustained winds of 40 knots with gusts of 50 knots. The cyclone is reported as moving northeast at 16 knots.

Additional Information
======================

With this development, this is the final bulletin on this weather disturbance

Meanwhile, a Low Pressure Area was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 490 km east of eastern Visayas 11.5°N, 130.4°E.

Tropical Storm "CARINA" will enhance the southwest monsoon which will bring occasional rains over Northern and central Luzon becoming frequent rains over the Batanes group of Island and the Western sections. Residents in these areas are advised to stay alert against possible flash floods and landslides.

Moreover, the enhancement of the southwest monsoon will continue to induce strong to gale force winds over the seaboards of Luzon. Fishing boats and other small seacrafts are advised not to venture out into these areas while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves.

====================================

Shower and thunderstorm activity associated with an area of low pressure located about 250 miles west-southwest of Manzanillo, Mexico has become a little better organized. Environmental conditions remain favorable for development...And this system will likely become a tropical depression during the next day or so as it begins to move slowly eastward.

Interests along the southwestern coast of Mexico should monitor the progress of this system...As a tropical storm watch could be required for a portion of the coast on Tuesday. Regardless of development...Locally heavy rainfall and the threat for flash floods and mudslides will continue over portions of southwestern Mexico for the next couple of days.

Standby Signal, No. 1

Tropical Cyclone Bulletin

Here is the latest Tropical Cyclone Bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

The Standby Signal, No. 1 is in force.

This means that a tropical cyclone now centred within about 800 kilometers of Hong Kong may affect us.

(Precautionary Announcements with No. 1 Signal)

1. All small vessels should remain in shelter and precautions should not yet be relaxed as strong winds are still blowing over offshore waters.

2. Since sea state over offshore waters is still rough, you are advised to stay away from the shoreline and not to engage in water sports.

Tropical Cyclone Outlook
11:00 AM PDT June 18 2012
===================================

Shower and thunderstorm activity associated with an area of low pressure located about 260 miles west-southwest of Manzanillo, Mexico is showing signs of organization. Environmental conditions are favorable for additional development...and this system could become a tropical depression during the next day or so as it moves slowly eastward.

Regardless of development...Locally heavy rainfall and the threat for flash floods and mudslides will continue over portions of southwestern Mexico for the next couple of days.

Tropical Cyclone Formation Potential
=======================================

There is a HIGH chance of this disturbance to form into a tropical cyclone in the next 48 hours

Tropical Cyclone Bulletin #12 (FINAL)
TYPHOON BUTCHOY (GUCHOL)
11:00 PM PhST June 18 2012
================================================

Typhoon "BUTCHOY" continues to move away from the country in a north northeast direction

At 10:00 PM PhST, Typhoon Butchoy (Guchol) located at 26.2°N 129.0°E or 840 km northeast of Basco, Batanes has 10 minute sustained winds of 80 knots with gusts of 100 knots. The cyclone is reported as moving north northeast at 15 knots.

Additional Information
========================

With this development, this is the final bulletin on this weather disturbance.

Meanwhile, the tropical storm with an international name of "TALIM" was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 820 km west of extreme northern Luzon (19.2N 112.6E), with maximum winds of 40 knots near the center and gustiness of up to 50 knots. It is forecast to move northeast slowly. This disturbance and Typhoon "BUTCHOY" will continue to enhance the southwest monsoon which will bring occasional rains over northern and central Luzon becoming frequent rains over the western section.

Tropical Cyclone Bulletin #11
TYPHOON BUTCHOY (GUCHOL)
11:00 AM PhST June 18 2012
================================================

Typhoon "BUTCHOY" has slightly weakened as it moves in a north northeast direction

At 10:00 AM PhST, Typhoon Butchoy (Guchol) located at 22.7°N 127.7°E or 580 km east northeast of Basco, Batanes has 10 minute sustained winds of 90 knots with gusts of 105 knots. The cyclone is reported as moving north northeast at 13 knots.

Additional Information
========================

Typhoon "Butchoy" is expected to enhance the southwest monsoon that will bring rains over Luzon especially over the western section, and over western Visayas which may trigger flash floods and landslides.

Estimated rainfall amount is from 15-25 mm per hour (heavy) within the 500 km diameter of the Typhoon.

Fishing boats and other small seacrafts are advised not to venture out into the seaboards of Luzon and Visayas due to the big waves generated by the combined effects of Typhoon "Butchoy" and the southwest monsoon.

The public and the disaster coordinating councils concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next bulletin to be issued at 11 PM today.
