Grothar's WunderBlog

The Tropica this Week
Posted by: Grothar, 12:38 PM GMT on September 04, 2012 +30
It is going to be an active two weeks. First, I see the remnants of Isaac moving back into the Gulf and possibly affecting Florida.

As I have been mentioning, the models on Leslie would be shifting more to the West. She will move very slowly to the North the high pressure to her Northeast will likely move her a little more to the NW. I will she will be a formidable storm in size and strength this week. There is no doubt she will have a strong impact on Bermuda and now very possibly the North East Coast of the US. She could easily become a Category 3 or higher. Either way, no one in Bermuda, the Northeast US, or Eastern Canada should let their guard down yet. She will be a large storm with tremendous wave impacts.

Quite a change from yesterday. The current EMCWF has Leslie quite close to the NE US coast before a possible strike on Nova Scotia and Newfoundland.

However, there are two other systems to be watched. The is a strong wave off the coast of Africa that could also move towards the East coast of the US in the next week. And there are hints of still another which appear to stay on a much more Southerly track and be near the Antilles in the next two weeks.

Good morning Gro! Leslie is turning out to be very interesting. I'm not liking what the models are doing with her now. Looks like poor Newfoundland could be hit this year too.

I was looking at that mess over Mississippi and Alabama last night, wondering what it was. Now I know. Thanks!

Thanks, Grothar.
With very little time right now to sift through Dr. Masters' blog and check the links, I appreciate your summary of current events.
Would be really something for Isaac remnant to reorganize in the Gulf! Also significant that Leslie is forecast to strengthen and perhaps affect Bermuda from its east side.

Hey Gro, I see you are pretty active right now --- until Mrs. Grothar will come back Friday, lol? Enjoy your freedom.
I'm flattened today after designing 19 Christmas- and Easter-Cards for our new collection, puh. Tomorrow last working day before my vacation is starting, but a big outdoor party at the weekend will have to be prepared as well.
So not much time for Leslie, Michael and co., not to speak of "Medicanes". Perhaps later in the evening. Blog seems to be in a really good mood today. Hilarious reading. See you later.

Yeah, what Keeper said, what did you do with the real Grothar?

Who is this weather person and why are you on his blog?

I'm watching you.

All kidding aside my wise weather friend, I have a scary weather question for you.

Remember please that I am not a weather person, I have only been here for four years reading and learning from the rest of you.

If Michael slams into Leslie on her east side, would the Fuji effect cause both of them to break free from Leslie's northern course and spin around each other with both of them heading west right into the east coast of the United States.

Either together or one after the other?

Is it possible? Has it ever happened any where in the Atlantic or Pacific?

Maybe I should not have asked this question.

That sounds like a game of Atlantic 8-ball. Watch Ma Nature split - the yellow ball for the southeast, and the red ball in the Chesapeake. ;)

Yes, it has happened, but here, very unlikely, Leslie, is much larger. I believe they are too far North and far enough apart for much interaction. If anything, they outflow from Leslie would cause shear over Michael. What would most likely happen is Leslie will gain latitude and whatever is left of Michael is expected to slide into the wake of Leslie.
