Equipement Review

Way back when I moved out to Ocean Shores, I had a Davis wired weather station and didn't want to punch holes in the house for the station. So I got a wireless from Davis. It worked great for a few years then the Anemometer failed and I was unable to get a replacement because Davis had discontinued the model.

I took the opportunity to try an Oregon Scientific station thinking. Hey they are on the west coast, they know the kind of weather we have. As you can see I'm having to replace the station after a year. Because their waterproofing on the station is frankly a joke. Also unlike a Davis system the solar panel on the station didn't charge the battery. It was an alternate source of power rather.

After climbing up my roof multiple times swapping batteries and checking connections it finally failed.

Now I'm going back through my weather history and cleaning up the erroneous data entries where it goes from 60 degrees to 32 in under 10 minutes then jumps back up to over 100 in 5. I have a few months of data to crawl through to fix it.
