Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that as that Storm slid down the coast yesterday the entire peninsula and Sea have been blanketed with clouds.
Yesterday morning the low was about 200 miles SW of San Diego and during the day it moved south paralleling the peninsula.
As the front slid south numerous wet cells passed over the peninsula and brought rain sometime heavy at times from Santa Rosalia south to the cape.
As it arrived around the cape in the early afternoon the counterclockwise swirl of the low picked up abundant tropical moisture from south of the cape and the swirl sent these moisture laden clouds back up the Sea bringing rain all along the peninsula, the Sonoran coast, the central and southern Sea until late in the evening.
This image is showing that the northern Mexican Riviera also received showers yesterday afternoon and evening.
This morning the weakened low is still spiraling over the cape. The bar at the cape at 5am was 1014. This image is showing the associated cold front has moved east and is now stretched out from around Cabo Corrienties to Tucson and moving NE across Sonora.
This image is showing a lot of lingering fluffys, some with dark bottoms lingering along the Baja peninsula and around the Sea this morning. Most are moving off to the west this morning. If this continues I’d image that we could be seeing mostly sunshine by this afternoon. We’ll see?
Looking south along the Mexican Riviera it looks like from around Manzanillo south to Zihuatanejo did not get any rain. However the area did see some cloudiness move in from the Pacific during the day and early morning hours.
Looking now at the Tehuantepec where it looks like support for the high winds in the Gulf have largely faded away except one final surge of 25-30 knot winds this morning. It looks like the winds will be hovering around 20 knots for the 3-day forecast period.
That about it for our hood so looking now north to the west coast of America where California is partly cloudy this morning. Oregon and Washington have storms arriving from the west that will keep the Great Northwest wet well into next week.
Northern California will see some of this weather south to about Eureka. The rest of the north state will remain dry under building high pressure into the weekend.
Southern California will have a couple of weak troughs move through the region during the weekend and another stronger front could bring more rain to southern California early next week.
Looking now over to the southwest where some of this moisture from our hood will work its way back into eastern Arizona but most will brush New Mexico and move into Texas.
This image is showing weather in the Great Basin that has moved down from the north will bring only a slight chance of mountain showers over the White Mountains. The regions should remain dry through the weekend then early next week will be the best opportunity for the southwest to see and rain.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. On this side of the Fence there may be some lingering clouds around the cape. It looks like the last of the heavy cells are moving through the northern Mexican Riviera early this morning and there may still be some residual cloudiness in the area until later this morning. Then the cold front will move off to the NE during the day bringing rain to Sonora and central Mexico.
As far as the winds in the Sea: today and tomorrow will see brisk NW winds. On Friday the moderate winds in the Sea will have a southern flavor.
As far as rain totals. Weather Undergournd has not updated their historical data for the past two days and I inadvertently turned off the data logger on my weather station last night but before I turned it off it was showing about a half inch of rain.
As far as sunshine…Well, just maybe, perhaps, probably later this morning and afternoon. This image is showing most of the clouds and all of the rain have moved into southern and central Sonora this morning. It looks like the skies over Guaymas and the northern coast of Sonora are clearing this morning.
As far at the temperatures they should be in the low 70s today.
