Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see a band of what look like mostly cirrus passing over the northern Sea early this morning. Radar is showing a band of showers from Palm Springs south to Mexicali and the lower Colorado River Valley moving southeast this morning. Puerto Penasco is in the forward path so they could see some showers later this morning.
The rest of the Sea south to cape looks pretty much clear this morning.
Off the west coast of the peninsula what look like a mix of multilevel clouds hug the coast. Today much like yesterday some of these will pass over the peninsula into the Sea.
Looking south to the Mexican Riviera I can see that the wide, wet plume of moisture moving off the ITCZ/monsoon trough continues to blanket most of the Riviera this morning. Within this plume there are numerous scattered very wet cells that produce showers.
None of the reporting stations along the Riviera reported any rain accumulations within the past 24 hours though.
The Tehuantepec continues to have very moderate winds so this is day 4 that the crossing window has been open and it looks like the next 3 days the window will continue to be open.
That’s about it for our hood so looking now north to the west coast of America where at the top of this image the Great Northwest has a weak system moving though this morning bringing light rain. Several more vigorous systems will arrive starting tomorrow and keep the streets wet and the mountains white for the next 5 days.
Northern California today and tomorrow should see clear skies. Saturday the tail end of a weak system to the north could bring some light rain. Another system is forecast to move through Northern California of Sunday. Neither look very impressive.
Starting early next week high pressure should build over the entire state bringing dry weather once again.
Southern California will have scattered showers into the afternoon as a low digs south into Baja. Another weak system is forecast to arrive on Sunday bringing the possibility of more light rain to the southland. It will warm up next week with the return of high pressure over the region.
Looking now over to the southwest where a low system is moving out of California and into southwest Arizona this morning then exiting starting from the west during the day tomorrow. Valley rain and mountain snow are likely today. As I mentioned radar was showing rain at Mexicali and Yuma this morning.
Sunday another system is forecast to arrive and bring mostly gusterly conditions and some high elevation snow into early next week.
The tailing end of this cold front over Yuma this morning is swinging through northern Baja this morning. It should be over the north-central Sea during the day and central Sonora by tomorrow morning with the far southern tailing end passing the cape tomorrow morning.
Certainly northern Baja and the far northern Sea will get some rain as this front passes through. The big question is: Will Baja Sur get any rain? I have all these wonderful graphs and charts to try to come up with an answer and the best I can give is, “I doubt it”. We’ll see?
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back here in Baja today wind-wise it looks like we will have a bit more wind in the afternoon than yesterday. Still in the moderate ranges though. Tomorrow most of the Sea will be seeing ballpark 20 knot winds in the afternoon and a bit less on Saturday for most of the Sea.
Temperatures will continue to be in the low to mid 70s today.
