Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that that front moved out of California yesterday just brushed northern Baja with just traces of rain as it passed to the east. This morning the Sea looks to be free of any cloudiness.
All along the outside of the peninsula mixed layers of clouds are being pushed down the coast by a low sliding down the California coast this morning. Much like yesterday I’d expect to see some of these pass over the peninsula into the Sea. Most likely a mix of fluffys and whispys.
Looking south to the Mexican Riviera where that plume of moisture laden clouds continue to move up from the ITCZ/monsoon trough and make landfall along the entire Riviera from Mazatlan to Acapulco again this morning. Within this plume are numerous wet cells that have the potential of producing showers.
Looking out into the Eastern Pacific Basin this morning I can mostly high whispys between Baja and Hawaii this morning.
The Tehuantepec continues to have very moderate winds for the 3-day forecast period so the crossing window is still open.
That’s about it for our hood so looking now north to the west coast of America where the Great Northwest will see some sun today before the next series of storms arrives tomorrow into the weekend.
Northern California will see some lingering showers today and snow is forecast for the Sierras until this evening. The next chance of any rain will be on Sunday when another system could move through.
High pressure is forecast to rebuild into northern California late this weekend well into next week.
Southern California has a strong and cold low working down the California coast this morning that will bring widespread rain and mountain snow until this evening. Snow levels will begin around 5000 feet this morning and quickly drop to around 3000 feet by this afternoon impacting the traffic over the grapevine.
Showers may linger over the mountains and deserts through late tomorrow night.
This system will bring strong winds along the coast this afternoon to 35 mph. The mountains and deserts could see gusts 45-55 all day today.
As this system slides south into northern Baja tomorrow morning the strong winds will continue in southern California into Friday.
Looking over to the southwest where this image is showing the heavy clouds moving east out of Arizona. Over southwest Arizona it is overcast this morning but should clear later this morning and the forecast is for dry and cool today for southwest Arizona. Snow is still forecast for Flagstaff this morning though.
Another system will impact the southwest later tomorrow. It looks like this one will track along the international border bringing another chance of rain showers tomorrow morning into Friday morning along with breezy conditions.
The forecast is for dry and warm to start the weekend but Sunday could see a few mainly mountain showers and end up being quite windy.
Most of models are in agreement that high pressure will rebuild from the west into the western conus next week.
That’s what is gong on to the north of us. Yesterday just about every single location in the Sea of Cortez exceeded the wind forecast by an average of 10 knots. The bay of La had 40 knot winds when all the models were showing around 10 knot for that area. Sort of a watchman’s nightmare.
This morning the forecast is much the same as yesterday. None of the models are showing these strong winds today. A pilot instructor once told me always trust your instruments. So with a bit of apprehension I’m saying the winds should be in the moderate ranges today.
About the same for tomorrow for the central Sea. A bit gusterly in the southern Sea tomorrow. Friday the entire see should see brisk to strong winds in the afternoon.
Temperatures today will be in the mid 60s for the northern Sea and the rest in the low 70s today.
And finally that front that is moving into southern California today will slide south into northern Baja tomorrow. Northern Baja will see some rain as this system passes quickly to the east. There is chance that the central Sea could see some light showers early tomorrow morning. We’ll see?
