Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see a few high whispys passing over the northern Sea during the night as a cold front moves out of California into Arizona.
Off the west coast of Baja there is a lot of cloudiness out there and it looks like the mountains are keeping them from passing into the Sea. There are several storms along California coast that are pushing clouds in front of them and along the Baja west coast and this image is showing the clouds getting thicker. So far none have passed over the peninsula but it looks likely that will happen and we will have some high overcast later today. We’ll see?
Right now both the water vapor imagery and the IR are showing the Sea to be pretty much free of any cloudiness.
Looking south to the Mexican Riviera. Well, two days ago and again yesterday the forecast was for that area of disturbed weather off the mainland west coast to dissipate. That has actually happened but you would not know it by the clouds over the Riviera from around Cabo Corrienties south to Acapulco this morning. They are coming from convection building along the ITCZ/monsoon trough and drifting toward the mainland. Within this plume there are scattered cells that will have dark bottoms and so the possibility of sprinkles continue to be in their forecast for today. This plume is reminiscent of the Pineapple Express however so far this year the southern jet has yet to make an appearance.
The Tehuantepec is relatively calm this morning and the forecast is for that to continue into Thursday at least, so a crossing window is now open.
That’s about it for our hood so looking now north to the west coast of America where the Storm door is open for the west coast. I can see a cold front moving down the Washington/Oregon coast last night. It will be bringing valley rain and mountain snow to the Cascades today.
Tomorrow the Storm will slide south into Northern California bringing moderate amounts of valley rain and snow to the Sierras tomorrow and Thursday. Snow should start around Lake Tahoe late this evening.
Southern California will have a cold upper level low move through the region today and tonight with rain showers along with possible thunderbumpers and mountain snow. Windy conditions exist along the coast with large swells and small craft advisories posted from LA to San Diego.
Another potentially stronger system will move through the southland on Wednesday bringing more wet and windy weather.
Thursday and Friday will dry out a bit then next weekend another trough will arrive bringing another chance of rain.
Looking now over to the southwest and along the international border where the skies are clear but heavy clouds are moving in from the west and north and I’d expect to see the entire state blanketed with clouds later this morning.
A cold front is moving out of California into Arizona this morning and it will bring strong gusterly winds, some rain and cooler temperatures before it passes to the east tonight.
Wednesday it will dry out a bit before the next Storm arrives on Thursday and Thursday night. This Storm will also bring a chance of showers. Friday into the weekend it should warm up a bit.
By the end of next week we should see high pressure building over the Great Basin.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. That system that is moving down the coast of California today appears to be loosing most of its moisture along the way. The cold front should slide south into northern Baja this morning bringing only a chance of any showers to the northern state. It should pass to the east by tomorrow morning leaving cooler temperatures in its wake.
As this front passed today the northern Sea and perhaps the central Sea could see some high cloudiness and then clearing by this evening.
Wind-wise with not much of a gradient in the Sea. Our winds will continue to be on the light to very moderate side for the next 3 days. Thursday Point Concepcion could see afternoon winds up to 20 but the rest of the Sea low to mid teens.
