Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see the first clouds from that Pacific Storm starting to move across northern Baja and into the northern Sea this morning.
As of 5am the rest of the Sea was pretty much free of any cloudiness.
Looking south to the Mexican Riviera I can see there is an area of heavy thunderbumper activity about 800 miles west of the Gulf of Tehuantepec. Large cells that look like they are very wet are moving with the west/east flow in the basin and pretty much blanket the area from around Puerto Vallarta to south to the Gulf of Tehuantepec this morning.
I was a bit surprised to see that none of the reporting stations did not show any rain accumulations.
It does not look like these conditions will change much over the next 24 hours.
Looking over at the Gulf of Tehuantepec where the Tehuantepecker continues with Gale force winds funneling thought the Chivela pass into the Gulf. The strong winds are forecast to diminish below Gale force by tonight but remain very strong at 25-30 knots through Wednesday evening.
Taking a look at the monsoon trough running pretty much along the 8 north parallel. Not much going on there. All of the Storm activity is up around 16N off the Gulf of Tehuantepec.
That’s what’s going on in our hood so looking now north to the west coast of America where a Pacific Storm is just arriving along the northern California coast.
It will bring rain to the valleys and snow to the sierras today and into tomorrow.
The Storm will slide south down the coast today. It is currently centered about 400 miles west of Point Concepcion along the central California coast.
Cloudiness has already proceeded the front in southern California and the southland should start to see valley rain and mountain snow later today into tomorrow. It is not a particularly wet system and only moderate amounts of rain are forecast for southern California.
The models are not much help here however here is what it looks like to me. The system will continue to slide south and by this afternoon rain will be falling in northern Baja and along the peninsula to about Point San Quinten. Tomorrow the front will start to pass over the peninsula to as far south as Abreojos. The peninsula and both the northern and central Sea will see some most likely light showers through Thursday morning. And for goodness sake don’t chisel this in stone. Mexican TV weather probably has the right solution but I don’t have that option. If I had time I’d sneak over ask my friend Bertha. She watches TV all day at her tienda.
As far as the southwest it will remain dry today with temperatures a few degrees above normal. A few showers may occur Wednesday through late Thursday as the Storm passes mostly to the south. Friday into the weekend should see warmer temperatures as high pressure rebuilds over the region.
Well that’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the fence, today’s winds will be on the light side. Tomorrow will pick up a bit and then a bit more on Thursday.
Temperatures will continue to be in the low to mid 70s today for the central Sea.
