Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that the Sea has been pretty much cloud free for the past 24 hours. The cape area has had a few fluffys passing over during the night from drifting clouds moving off the monsoon trough. It looks like most of these will again stay south of the cape today. Still no evidence of our annual southern jet, ake the Pineapple Express.
Looking now south to the Mexican Riviera where they too have seen some passing fluffys during the night around the Mazatlan area. During the day they could see a few more but sunshine is on tap for the entire Mexican Riviera today.
Looking now at the Tehuantepec where winds speeds over the next few days will hover around the Gale force criteria gradually diminishing about mid week.
Looking now out into the Eastern Pacific Basin where clouds moving off the monsoon trough continue to blanket a good part of the basin between here and Hawaii this morning.
Off the Baja west coast the skies are clear for about a 1000 miles off shore so there is not much chance of any cloudiness spoiling our Christmas Day.
That’s it for our hood so looking north now to the west coast of America the Storm door is open for the Great Northwest.
Western Washington will have a Pacific Storm slam into the coast today. This is just one of series that will impact the Great Northwest over the next week.
Northern California will see some rain from these storms later in the week, probably Wednesday and Thursday. Meantime it will remain cold. Sacramento was 38 this morning and forecast to have a high of 57 this afternoon.
Southern California has freeze advisories out for several inland valleys this morning however under weak high pressure they should see a warming trend for the upcoming week. Patchy fog along the coast will also return but fair skies and dry conditions are in their forecast for the next week.
Looking now over to the southwest where Tucson was 33 degrees at sunrise this morning. At Herford at 5000 ft it was 30 degrees at sunrise.
A much drier pattern is now in place across southwest Arizona for the upcoming week with high pressure aloft dominating. Low temperatures will still be on the cold side especially for the next couple of days but a warming trend will continue throughout this week with highs for the middle to later portions of the week above the norms.
The skies are clear over the southwest this morning and will be pretty much clear throughout the week with the storm track staying well to the north and high pressure building off the California coast.
Well, that’s what is going on to the north of us. Back here in Baja the northern Sea will see wind gusts just below 30 knots this afternoon and then the mid teens Monday and Tuesday.
The central Sea will see winds in the high 20s today and then the low 20s for the next couple of days.
The southern Sea will continue to see 20+ knot winds for the next couple of days along the east cape and La Paz area. The center of the Sea is forecast to be in the moderate ranges.
Interesting the winds recorded in Sea for yesterday were on an average 8 knots below the forecast values. I was temped to tweak down the winds in the Sea for today’s forecast but kept the higher values.
Temperatures in the Sea were up a few degrees at sunrise this morning and I noted that most of the southern locations managed to slip into the low 70s yesterday afternoon.
The Mexican Riviera will see daytime highs in the mid 80s today.
