Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning first with the 24 hour loop. I can see that most of the day yesterday broken bands of clouds passed over the far northern Sea moving up into Sonora and southwest Arizona. This morning most of those clouds are gone and Arizona looks cloud free.
Also in the 24 hour loop I can see that yesterday clouds moved in from the Pacific crossing over the peninsula from about Loreto to Santa Rosalia and yesterday afternoon from about 3 to 6 we had light to heavy showers. Here at my palapa I registered .13 inches of rain. The satellite image yesterday showed the heaviest band of fluffys pretty much sitting over Concepcion Bay for several hours.
This morning the Sea looks to be pretty much clear of any clouds. The exception is Santa Rosalia where I can see a small patch of cloudiness there.
Looking over to the Sonoran coast I can see there has been no thunderbumpers over there for the past 24 hours.
Looking south to along the Mexican Riviera this morning. I can see a few light squalls off shore but all the way south to Acapulco the coast is clear this morning.
Looking at the Tehuantepec this morning I can see some cloudiness over the bay but no thunderbumpers. The cold front in the Gulf of Mexico is giving cause to strong near gale force winds funneling through the Chivela pass into the Gulf of Tehuantepec. Seas are running 8-9 feet this morning.
The latest guidance models are showing these strong winds are disrupting the monsoon trough between 95W and 100W and indicate a surface low developing along this area in the trough about mid week.
As I’ve mentioned for the past several days, even if it becomes a named storm it is too far south to affect the Baja peninsula.
Speaking of named storms there is nothing cooking in our tropical kitchen this morning. So far this season we have had eight named storms.
Traditionally the “J” storms kick our butt but we are two storms away from that right now. The official end of the hurricane season is in November but only rarely do we have one in October. Hurricane Nobert on October 5th 1998 is an example.
That’s it for our hood so looking north now to the west coast of America where that giant counterclockwise swirl off the Washington coast is going to be bringing wet weather to the west this week.
Starting today from San Francisco north will see light to medium showers. It will be cooling things down about 10 degrees along the coast today.
By tomorrow the system will be sliding down the coast bringing more rain and cooler weather to central California and light rain to southern California.
By Wednesday the second more powerful wave will arrive dropping temperatures to around 20 degrees below normal and producing significant rain and strong winds in the inland valleys. Snow levels will be at or near the trans-Sierra passes and the National Weather Service is advising folks traveling to carry chains.
Wednesday Southern California is forecast to have locally heavy rainfall lingering into Wednesday night. Strong winds are forecast for the California deserts and mountains that could see 50 mph gusts. Snow levels in southern California should be around 7000 feet.
Looking now over to the southwest where chances are good for thunderbumpers and showers today. Tomorrow should be dry and much colder.
Thursday that strong cold front will move out of California and move across southwest California and south-central Arizona along with a band of showers and gusterly winds. Temperatures behind the front will drop another 10-20 degrees with record cool high temperatures possible on Thursday. The cooler weather is expected to continue into the weekend.
Back on this side of the border here in Baja it looks like mostly moderate northerlies again today.
Tomorrow will be a bit gusterly with that front starting to pass through north of the border. Brisk to strong southerlies in the northern Sea and brisk to strong northerlies in the central Sea.
But today look to be very nice with temperatures in the mid 90s.
