Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that as advertized there was not a lot of thunderbumper activity in Sonora or the Sierra Madre’s yesterday and last night.
The 24 hour loop is showing a few brief storms moving out of Sonora and into the Sierra Vista area that were not too moisture laden early this morning. It does not look like any made it as far as Tucson. There was also some activity east of Guaymas but no rain has been reported in the Guaymas/San Carlos area in the past 24 hours.
So in general the Sea looked to be pretty calm last night. I can see some morning fluffys hear and there but that’s it for most of the Sea.
Looking to the southern Sea I can see some remnant clouds drifting into the southern crossing from thunderbumper activity pretty much centered over Puerto Vallarta this morning.
This storm over Puerto Vallarta extends well out into the Sea and to the south to Manzanillo where it almost merges with another big honker over Manzanillo. That storm extends south to Lazaro Cardenas. From Lazaro Cardenas south to Central America is almost a solid line storms hugging the coast.
In our tropical kitchen this morning we have Himicane Eugene. He is a cat 1 and forecast to intensify later today to a cat 2 with winds in the 96 to 110 knot ranges. It should remain a cat 2 until Thursday when it will be plutoed to a category one again.
This himicane will pass well to the south of the cape. My calculations show it getting no closer than about 660 miles tomorrow. The cape may get some surf but that’s about all.
Well that’s it for our hood so looking now north to the west coast of America where today will be starting a transition period.
There will still be enough monsoonal moisture for a chance of some showers and thunderbumper this afternoon in southern California. That low moving down the coast is bringing drier air and for the rest of the week will bring a return of the coastal fog and morning cloudiness along the coast.
Looking now over to the southwest where a decline in the monsoonal moisture will lead to storm chances being confined primary to the higher terrain of South-central Arizona for the rest of the week. Temperatures will climb a tad tomorrow before a slow decrease in the afternoon temperatures starting Thursday.
Bottom line is the monsoonal faucet will be mostly off for the rest of this week. When this drier air moves into Arizona during the summer the real meteorologists in Arizona call this a “Break” opposed to “Bursts” when the monsoon faucet is fully on.
Back on this side of the border it looks like the Sonoran coast will be seeing 20-24 knot winds this afternoon. The rest of the northern and central Sea will be well within the moderate ranges with a northern flavor. The southern Sea mostly light northerlies.
Then starting tomorrow, with low pressure making inroads into the Great Basin the gradient will support southern winds most likely into next weekend.
Today’s temperatures will be in the mid to high 90s.
