.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that there have not been a lot of clouds in the Sea for the past 24 hours. That area around the cape has seen a mix of passing fluffys and whispys for the past several days is continuing to see them. These are clouds that are moving up from the ITCZ.
Looking at the ITCZ this morning I can see considerable more convection along the zone that I’ve seen in about a month. There is not a lot but some thunderbumper activity along the zone but never the less the zone is producing a lot of clouds that are moving up into the Eastern Pacific Basin this morning.
The area of convection that has been producing the clouds that we have been seeing for the past several days over the cape is still active and it looks like it will continue to send scattered bands of broken clouds over the cape area as well as portions of the Mexican Riviera today.
From La Paz north the skies are clear this morning.
No advisories for the Tehuantepec as fair weather holds for the Gulf with just moderate winds in their forecast for the next several days.
That’s it for our hood so looking north now to the west coast of America and starting at the top of this image. The Pacific Northwest will be wet today and most likely for the rest of the week as a series of systems are forecast to move ashore this week.
These will just brush northern California with an only slight chance of some more rain around Friday. This morning there are some lingering showers that should be gone by mid morning then cloudy for the next couple of day.
Southern California should see their cloudy skies turn to sunshine today and start a warming trend tomorrow peaking around Thursday as high pressure moves in from the Pacific.
Most of the models are in agreement that Friday into the weekend a low will approach the coast and present the possibility of showers all along the California coast.
Looking now over to the southwest this morning where they are having clear nights and sunny days. It is dry and will be in a warming trend all week. Models are showing that near record highs are possible to start April. Meantime the disturbances that are passing to the north will result in some afternoon breeziness at times.
Back down here, across the border it looks to me that we will see a couple of days of pleasant winds prior to high pressure building over the Great Basin. Right now that looks like that will happen Wednesday and Thursday and that should bring us a couple of days of brisk winds as the gradient equalizes between here and the Great Basin.
So enjoy today and tomorrow.
