Voice to Text……….
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see there has been no thunderbumper activity in the Sea or in Sonora for the past 24 hours. There as been very few clouds in the Sea with the exception of the northwest corner where that low along the northern Baja coast has been causing rain and thunderbumpers from Mexicali to La La land for the past 24 hours. The rain extended well south of Ensenada yesterday as well. San Filepe had a trace of rain yesterday.
It looks like there could have been some cloudiness in the bay of La area and just north of the bay.
Looking now south to the Mexican Riviera where there has been a marked decrease in the thunderbumper activity all along the Riviera. I can see there has been just a few cells develop mostly off shore from Cabo Corrienties south. I would doubt that these cells produced even a trace of rain.
Looking further south to the Tehuantepec where the gradient is going to tighten over the isthmus and winds will be increasing to gale force in the gulf are forecast for Monday and Tuesday. This weekend 20-30 knot winds are expected to continue. This could be a 4-5 day blow.
Again this morning we have nothing cooking in our tropical kitchen.
Our tropical season is NOT over yet. Normally by mid October we are pretty much out of the woods here in the Eastern Pacific Basin and that’s a couple of weeks away.
Not so for the Atlantic. They are forecasting the third busiest Atlantic hurricane season of all time. They are forecasting three more named storms, two hurricanes and one intense hurricane this month. They are even predicting one hurricane in November. We’ll see?
That’s it for down here so looking north to the west coast of America where the only real weather maker in the western conus is just south of San Diego along the northern Baja coast. The rather stationary low swirling out there is steering subtropical moisture as far north as central California and as far south as between Ensenada and Point San Quinten.
Isolated thunderbumpers are forecast from Ensenada to La La land today. Any of these thunderbumpers are capable of producing brief heavy downpours with local flooding of streams and roadways. The temps in many California cities has dropped as much at 30 degrees in the past 5 days so it looks like that September heat wave is over.
Over in the southwest this system will be bringing a threat of thunderbumper to the Tucson area throughout the weekend.
Now looking at the very top of this image I can see a big honk’n low working it’s way down the British Columbia coast from the gulf of Alaska. This low is forecast to move along the coast and by early next week provide the final push of the highs in the west off to the east. This should cool things down in California as well as the southwest.
Back down here in Mulegé today we will be celebrating the heroic actions of Captain Manual Pinada and a small group of officers who successfully defended Mulegé against two American Navel ships in the Mexican-American war in 1847 that were bend on adding Mulegé to there conquest of Baja.
There are many stories about this famous battle written by historians on both sides. I personally like the Mexican version.
Today by law Mulegé is the capital of Baja Sur and also by law the governor is required to be in town. He will traditionally hold court in the town square and anyone who would like an audience with him can do so by filling out a form in advance of his arrival.
None of this has anything to do with out weather except that is certainly going to be a beautiful day for all these activity to take place.
As far as our weather today it looks like it is going to be another Chamber of Commerce day. Temp today will be in the low to mid 90s again.
73s Y'all
