Sea of Cortez Weather 08/29/10
Voice to Text……….
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that remnant clouds from a very depressed Frank have been drifting in from the Pacific and passing over the central Sea most of the night. There is not much left of Frank so it looks like once these clouds pass over this morning the Sea will have clear skies today.
It looks like there has been some thunderbumper activity over the Baja peninsula in the path of these clouds last night as well.
I can see there has been a lot of thunderbumper working along the Sonoran coast from late yesterday afternoon until about midnight. None of these moved off the coast into the Sea.
However over the southern Sea in the La Bay area it looks like they had some clouds that could have produced some sprinkles early last evening.
Looking further to the south I can see that from Mazatlan to Puerto Vallarta there has been heavy thunderbumper activity in the past 24 hours, however it is currently not raining there this morning.
Looking further to the south from about Acapulco south there has been very heavy thunderbumper activity along the coast.
There is also a tropical wave that has entered the Eastern Pacific Basin a couple of hundred miles south southeast of Acapulco. If this low develops into anything tropical the forecasters are saying it will be slow to develop giving it about a 10% chance in the next 48 hours. So as of this morning there is nothing cooking in our tropical kitchen.
Taking a last look around the basing before looking north: It looks like the basin is pretty much clear all the way out to Hawaii this morning.
The fog seeing satellite is most likely real fog from about Turtle Bay north to central California. It is very heavy along the southern California coast this morning.
So looking north now to the west coast of America where off the Oregon coast there is a rather impressive longwave trough moving into the Great Northwest. It will be bringing rain and perhaps SNOW to the Cascades tomorrow and Tuesday.
The other affect will be as this strong trough of low pressure moves into the west this week it will start to induce a drier southwest flow which will temporarily shunt down most of the monsoon action in the southwest. As it moves east and high pressure again builds over the west some deeper moisture will spread back in during the week.
Today there is a chance of some showers and thunderbumpers but most will be to the east of Tucson.
Back down here in Baja today it looks like the central Sea will have the strongest southern winds and be in the 15-18 knot ranges.
We should see some passing clouds from the west that are remnant clouds from Brother Frank. Not much left of Frank and it looks like the skies should clean in the central Sea before noon.
Temps today will be in mid to high 90s. We should continue to see some thunderbumper action back in the mountains on both sides of the Sea today in the late afternoon.

Don't chisel these forecasts in stone. This is an Amateur Endeavor. They, however, are normally very close.
