Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that the skies have been clear over the Sea of Cortez for the second day in a row.
Looking now over to the west coast of Mexico where again this morning there is some thunderbumper activity around the Puerto Vallarta area and off shore at Cabo Corrienties this morning. None of these cells look like they will become much larger or move into the Sea.
A quick look over at Sonora shows just a few small thumpers in the past 24 hours and nothing moving up into Arizona.
There is nothing cooking in our Tropical Kitchen this morning and the long range models are not showing anything popping up for at least to the end of the month.
Tropical Waves: two are in transit in the mid Atlantic. One in just east of the Leeward Islands and one is just passing over Cuba this morning. All in all pretty quiet on the home front.
That’s what is going on in our hood. Looking now north to the west coast of America where the Great Northwest will see one more day of sunny skies before a weak front will bring showers to the region over the weekend.
In northern California dry weather will continue for the next week along with seasonal warm temperatures today. A gradual cooling trend is expected through next week.
In southern California the high surf will gradually subside today on the southern California beaches. High pressure will begin to weaken later today and allow a broad low trough to fill in bringing some cooling and a return of the marine clouds along the coast over the weekend.
Looking now over to the SW where in a nutshell…dry and hot over the Labor Day weekend. Early next week moisture will begin to slowly increase the threat of showers returning to the region next week.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence the Sonoran coast from Guaymas north will continue to see these 20 knot NW winds today but the rest of the Sea should be seeing the mid teens.
Here are the wind details for the 3-day forecast period.
The northern Sea: the mid teens for the next 3 days. Today NW, over the weekend SE.
The Guaymas side of the central Sea: strong to 20 today from the NW, light SW tomorrow and on Sunday light SE.
The Baja side of the central Sea: the mid teens for the 3-day forecast period. Today NW and SE over the weekend.
Puerto Escondido: around 15 today from the NE then the low teens from the SE over the weekend.
The southern Sea, the San Lorenzo Channel, La Paz and the nearby islands. Light from the SE today and tomorrow and light SW on Sunday.
The East Cape: mostly light SE for the 3-day forecast period.
The Mexican Riviera: Mazatlan to Cabo Corrienties mostly light SW over the 3-day forecast period. Manzanillo the high teens today and tomorrow from the NW today, SW tomorrow. The low teens on Sunday from the NW. South of Manzanillo light SW winds for the 3-day forecast period
