Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see I can see that the northern and central Sea, in general, is pretty much clear this morning. The southern Sea to around La Paz has considerable cloudiness in the area from thunderbumper activity on the mainland last night.
Looking over to Sonora I can see two cells that developed inland and have moved in over the Guaymas area this morning. In northern Sonora I can see where there has been some thunderbumper activity along the Fence south of Tucson during the early morning hours.
Further to the south a cell started developing in the Sea west of Los Mochas this morning and by 7am it had enlarged to almost cross the sea and looking north the two cells over Guaymas were well on the wane at 7am. These cells dropped .06 inches of rain this morning and Guaymas was the only location to report any rain accumulation for the past 24 hours.
Looking now to along the west coast of Mexico where there has not been any thunderbumper activity along the coast however there is currently a lot of cloudiness from Mazatlan south to Manzanillo this morning.
We have a “Wanna-be” in the Tropical Kitchen this morning. It is an area of disturbed weather a couple hundred miles south of Guatemala. A Tropical Wave moved into that area yesterday and the National Hurricane Center is giving this a 50% chance of developing into something around mid week. In the meantime they aren’t giving it any chance of development until then. Long range models have not picked this up yet.
As for any Tropical Waves, we have three in transit in the Atlantic and none in our hood this morning with the exception of one that could have hooked up with that low west of Guatemala yesterday.
That’s what is going on in our hood. Looking now north to the west coast of America where high pressure in the Pacific is keeping the west coast warm and dry and that should continue well into next week.
In the Great Northwest they could see some thunderbumpers early next week but in the meantime sunny days.
In northern California thunderbumpers are possible over the Sierras the next several afternoons. Potentially more widespread thunderbumpers tomorrow through Tuesday including valley locations. Temperatures to remain near or a little below normal through next week.
In southern California headlines would be “Surfs up”. Just seasonal weather will continue this coming week. Afternoon thunderbumper may form over the mountains and deserts tomorrow and Tuesday as a brief surge of monsoonal moisture works into southern California. Then just dry and seasonal weather for the rest of the week into the weekend.
Looking now over to the SW where they can expect increasing chances of thunderbumpers as deeper moisture returns to the area early this week, especially Tuesday. Otherwise scattered afternoon and evening showers and thunderbumpers during the upcoming week. Some storms will generate locally heavy rain and strong winds.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence most of the Sea will see SE winds today and depending on location the next two days will see moderate NE or NW.
Here are the wind details for the 3-day forecast period.
The northern Sea: the low teens from the SE for the 3-day forecast period.
The Guaymas side of the central Sea: light SE today, then light
SW for the next two days.
The Baja side of the central Sea: the mid teens today from the SE then the low teens from the NE for the next two days.
Puerto Escondido: the low teens from the SE for the 3-day forecast period.
The southern Sea, the San Lorenzo Channel, La Paz and the nearby islands. Light NE today, around 16 tomorrow from the SW and on Tuesday light SW.
The East Cape: light NE today and tomorrow and light NW on Tuesday.
The Mexican Riviera: Mazatlan, mostly the low teens from the NW for the next 3 days.
Puerto Vallarta: the low teens from the NW today and tomorrow and light SW on Tuesday.
Cabo Corrienties: the mid teens from the NW for today and tomorrow and then the low teens from the SW on Tuesday.
SUPER FULL MOON TONIGHT….PARTY ON!
