Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that the skies looks clear over the Sea of Cortez this morning.
Looking over to the west coast of the Baja peninsula where NOAA’s experimental fog seeing satellite is showing a fairly heavy fog bank hugging the coast from just south of San Francisco bay all the way south to the Laguna area south of Turtle Bay this morning.
Looking now over to the west coast of Mexico where from around Cabo Corrienties south there is overcast along the coast, mostly remnant clouds from thunderbumpers that have been working along the coast for the past 24 hours.
In our Tropical Kitchen this morning on the back burner we have invest 94 echo which is around 144 miles SW of Acapulco this morning.
The first forecast models show three tracks moving due west, one track moving NE into the Sea of Cortez and one track moving NE paralleling the west coast of Mexico. It looks like the have covered all the bases. Elmer Fudd could have said about the same thing. “It’s gonna go somewhere.” Perhaps tomorrow the models will come to some consensus. One thing that they did agree on was this invest will develop into our next tropical STORM within the next 5 days.
Looking over into the Atlantic we have three Tropical Waves transiting the Atlantic this morning. One left the Saharan Desert yesterday, one is around the mid Atlantic and the other is approaching the coast of Vensuela and portions of the SE Caribbean this morning.
That’s what is going on in our hood. Looking now north to the west coast of America where hot and dry continue to be the headliners. You can add extreme fire danger to that forecast.
In northern California hot temperatures will continue under high pressure. Triple digit heat is expected across the Sacramento Valley again today with highs ranging from 102-108.
A modest cooling trend will begin tomorrow as a broad upper trough moves over the west coast, but more significant cooling will wait until mid-week.
In southern California it will be another hot day well inland from the coast. June Gloom hugs the coast. Temperatures in San Diego today will be in the mid 70s.
Looking now over to the southwest where high pressure over northern Mexico will persist through the 3-day forecast period and keep above normal seasonal normal temperatures in place. Late in the week some moisture will move in, but not enough to produce rainfall.
In the National Weather Service office in Tucson this morning a forecaster used the term “Bubbly cloud cover”. I’m thinking it won’t be long before they start using “fluffys and whispys”.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence it looks like these moderate southerlies will be with us for the 3-day forecast period.
Here are the wind details for the 3-day forecast period.
The northern Sea: the mid teens from the SE for the next three days.
The Guaymas side of the central Sea: the low teens from the SE for the 3-day forecast period.
The Baja side of the central Sea: the mid teens from the east or SE for the next three days.
Puerto Escondido: the low teens from the SE for the 3-day forecast period.
The southern Sea, the San Lorenzo Channel, La Paz and the nearby islands. The very low teens from the SW for the next three days.
East Cape: light NE today, light SE tomorrow and light NE on Wednesday.
The Sonoran passage south from Guaymas to Mazatlan: it looks like the mid teens from the SW for the next 3 days.
The Mexican Riviera: Mazatlan to Cabo Corrienties the low teens from the SW for the 3-day forecast period.
South of the cape: the general direction will be the SE. the velocity will depend on what happens with Invest 94E. For sure they will be getting a significant amount of rain along the coast.

73s Y’all
