Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see a few whispys in the northern Sea this morning that have come from the remnants of a cold front moving out of California this morning, otherwise I can see just a few wandering whispys in the southern Sea and that’s it for any clouds in the Sea of Cortez this morning.
Looking now south to the west coast of Mexico where the coast is clear all the way to Central America this morning.
The Gulf of Tehuantepec is tranquil this morning with light SE winds in their forecast.
That’s what is going on in our hood. Looking now north to the west coast of America were at the top of this image the Great Northwest has a front moving through the region that will be bringing light rain today as far south as central California today. The rain will end today with a dry middle of the week for the Great Northwest and a hint of another system moving in next weekend.
In northern California the rain will also stop by this evening with snow levels dropping to around 4000 feet during the day with only a dusting of snow though. High pressure will be moving in from the Pacific tomorrow bringing a warming trend to northern California for the rest of the week. Temperatures will inch up to around 90 for the Sacramento area around Wednesday.
In southern California the cold front has pretty much left California and moving into the Great Basin this morning. Rather strong winds and High pressure are building in the wake. Small craft advisories are posted in the San Diego Area for today and will be lifting this evening. Warm days are in the forecast for next week.
Looking now over to the southwest where the skies are clear this morning with the cold front moving through to the north overnight. Today should start a warming trend lasting all week with daytime highs in the lower deserts in the 90s this week.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence it looks like we will be having two more days of moderate winds then with high pressure filling in the Great Basin, Tuesday through Thursday look like strong NW winds for the northern and central seas.
Here are the wind details for the 3-day forecast period.
The northern Sea: the low teens today and tomorrow from the NE then mid 20s on Tuesday.
The Guaymas side of the central Sea: 12-14 from the NW today and tomorrow and around 28 on Tuesday from the NW.
The Baja side of the central Sea: the mid teens from the NW today and tomorrow and around 25 on Tuesday from the NW.
Puerto Escondido: the mid teens from the NE for the 3-day forecast period.
The southern Sea, the San Lorenzo Channel, La Paz and the nearby islands. Light NE today, light NW tomorrow and around 12 from the NE on Tuesday.
The East Cape: 11-13 from the NE for the 3-day forecast period.
The Sonoran passage south from Guaymas to Mazatlan: the mid to high teens from the NW for the next 3 days.
The Mexican Riviera: Mazatlan, 15 NW today, 20 NW tomorrow, and 16 NW on Tuesday.
Puerto Vallarta to Cabo Corrienties: light NW today, 13-15 from the NW on Monday and Tuesday.
South of Cabo Corrienties mostly light SW breezes in the low teens for the next 3 days.
