Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see a weak moisture plume passing over the central Sea this morning. The plume appears to be moving south so it looks like the central and southern Sea will be seeing a mix of multi-level clouds today.
Looking south to the west coast of Mexico: it is clear all along the coast this morning.
Nothing going on the Gulf of Tehuantepec this morning and conditions look the same for the rest of the work week.
As a sidebar there were several reports of winds to 30 in the southern Sea last night.
That’s what is going on in our hood. Looking now north to the west coast of America where yesterday’s Pacific STORM has moved off the coast and is now moving through the Great Basin this morning.
That being said the Great Northwest, including Washington, Oregon and extreme northern California will be see wet weather at least into the weekend.
The rest of northern California will see mild temperatures today and tomorrow then another system will arrive late tomorrow and Friday bringing a chance of rain into Saturday.
For southern California there are 30 knot winds along the coast at point Conception in southern California this morning.
Gusterly west winds will continue across the mountains and deserts this morning and afternoon. High pressure will briefly build through tomorrow then on Friday a stronger and colder trough will move inland across the west coast into Saturday. This will bring a chance of showers into the weekend. High pressure will return early next week bringing a warming trend.
Looking now over to the southwest this morning. The weather disturbance that brought gusterly winds and areas of blowing dust to the region yesterday is expected to bring cooler temperatures today as that system exits to the east. Warm temperatures will fill in the wake of this departing low and then on Friday another front will pass through mainly in the northern portion of the state. No rain has been mentioned in the forecast for the regions close to the Fence.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence it looks like these pleasant winds will continue for the 3-day forecast period. Tomorrow and Friday many locations will see winds with a southern flavor.
Here are the wind details for the 3-day forecast period.
The northern Sea: light NE today, mid teens tomorrow from the SE and high teens on Friday from the SW.
The Guaymas side of the central Sea: light NW today, light SW tomorrow, and light SE on Friday.
The Baja side of the central Sea: mid teens from the NE today and tomorrow and high teens from the SE on Friday.
Puerto Escondido: light SE today and the low teens from the SE for the next two days.
The southern Sea, the San Lorenzo Channel, La Paz and the nearby islands. Light to moderate SW winds for the 3-day forecast period. The evening Cormwells could be a bit stronger.
The East Cape: light SE today, light NE tomorrow and light NW on Friday.
The Sonoran passage south from Guaymas to Mazatlan: mid teens from mostly the SW for the 3-day forecast period.
Mexican Riviera: Mazatlan: 17-18 knot NW winds for the 3-day forecast period.
Puerto Vallarta to Cabo Corrienties: mostly light NW winds for the next 3 days.
South of Cabo Corrienties: Manzanillo the mid teens for the 3-day forecast period. South of Manzanillo mostly light NW winds.
