Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that moisture plume that showed up off the west coast of the Baja peninsula about a week ago is still with us.
Most of yesterday we had veiled sunshine with mostly whispys passing over the Sea. It was however thin enough to get a good look at the full moon rising last night. It would appear that the same pattern will persist today for the northern and central Sea. The cape region perhaps some high whispys but mostly sunshine today.
Looking now south to the west coast of Mexico where there are no clouds to be seen along the coast.
Looking now into the Gulf of Tehuantepec where the latest Tehuantepecker is winding down. This morning minimal STORM force winds are surging through the Tehuantepec isthmus but will subside to GALE force later this morning. Then quickly diminish throughout the remainder of the morning with winds below GALE force by this afternoon.
That’s what is going on in our hood. Looking now north to the west coast of America where in the Great Northwest Washington and Oregon will see light off and on rain for most of the workweek.
Northern California will remain unseasonably warm and dry for the first half of the week then the later part should see some shower activity in the Sierras and possibly in the northern Sacramento Valley on Friday.
After several weeks of quiet weather along the West Coast, a
change may be in store next week. All extended models are digging
a cold trough into northern California sometime early next week, but lingering model uncertainties remain as to the strength and timing.
(I love it when meteorologists use that phrase. “Lingering model
Uncertainties.” I add it to my text to make it sound like I know what
I’m talking about.
I digress!
Moving on to southern California where it will be warm and dry for most of the workweek. A trough of low pressure moving toward southern California Thursday will pass over the region on Friday. They are no longer mentioning any rain to be associated with this system. It will be a tad gusterly as the front passes through, then high pressure will fill in the wake of the departing low over the weekend.
Looking now over to the southwest where warm and dry are the forecast for the workweek with temperatures into the 90s over the warmer deserts. That low moving out of California on Friday could bring just a chance of showers into the weekend. High pressure will quickly return to the region early next week.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence it looks like we will be having moderate southerlies to at least the end of the week,
Here are the wind details for the 3-day forecast period. Unless otherwise noted all direction will be from the SE.
The northern Sea: 13 today, 20 tomorrow, and 16 on Friday.
The Guaymas side of the central Sea: 21 today, 16 tomorrow and 11 on Friday.
The Baja side of the central Sea: 20 today, 18 tomorrow and 16 on Friday.
Puerto Escondido: 18 today, 15 tomorrow and 11 on Friday.
The southern Sea, the San Lorenzo Channel, and the nearby islands. 13 today from the SW, 8 SW tomorrow and on Friday 10 from the SW
La Paz: ballpark around 10 from the SE for the 3-day forecast period.
The East Cape: 17 today, 13-14 tomorrow and Friday.
The Sonoran passage south from Guaymas to Mazatlan: 17-20 today from the SW, then the mid teens for the next two days.
The Mexican Riviera: Mazatlan: 15-18 from the SW for the 3-day forecast period.
Puerto Vallarta: light SW today then light NW for the next two days.
Cabo Corrienties: around 15 from the SW today, then light NW for the next two days.
South of the cape: mostly light to moderate SW breezes for the 3-day forecast period.
