Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see most of the Sea is cloud free this morning. There have been some dark bottomed clouds passing over the cape during the night. This morning most are now in the Sea or on the coast near Topa La Bomba. There is nothing back to the west of these clouds so it looks like the cape should be clear by now.
There have also been numerous dark bottomed clouds moving toward shore along the west coast of Mexico during the night and this morning. They don’t contain a lot of moisture but they are rather thick, so it looks like the west coast will see a mix of fluffys and some sun along the coast all the way south to Acapulco today.
Further south we have a STORM force Tehuantepecker brewing full force this morning with winds to 55 knots. Seas are running around 23 feet. The winds are expected to drop to GALE force by this afternoon and below GALE force Thursday afternoon and below advisory levels on Friday afternoon.
That’s what is going on in our hood. Looking now north to the west coast of America where a cold front moving through British Columbia will bring a good chance of some rain and scattered snow showers to western Washington and perhaps as far south as Oregon today.
In northern California high pressure over the western U.S. will bring fair skies and well above normal temperatures through the week.
At bit north of Hawaii this morning is a low that will arrive on the Central California coast probably Friday and bring a threat of showers and thunderbumpers to the mountains mostly south of Lake Tahoe.
In southern California high pressure over the region will continue unseasonably warm weather today. The high pressure weakens on Thursday and Friday as that low in the Pacific approaches. The low will bring a modest cooling trend and a slight chance of showers mainly the in mountains Friday into Saturday. Fairy and warmer weather return Sunday and Monday.
Looking now over to the southwest this morning where very strong pressure over the desert southwest will bring much above normal temperatures to the region through the remainder of the workweek. Some of the lower desert locations will see the century mark today and tomorrow. It will then cool off a bit this weekend as a couple of system will be moving through the region.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence light to moderate mostly NE today will turn to light to moderate southerlies Thursday and Friday.
Here are the wind details for the 3-day forecast period.
The northern Sea: 12 today from the NE. 14 tomorrow SE and 8 knots on Friday from the SE.
The Guaymas side of the central Sea: around 15 today from the NW then less than 10 from the SE for the next two days.
The Baja side of the central Sea: 14 Today from the NE then about the same for the next two days from either the east or SE.
Puerto Escondido: 12 NE today then about the same from the SE for the next two days.
The southern Sea, the San Lorenzo Channel, La Paz and the nearby islands. Light today from the NE. Light tomorrow from the SW then on Friday 11-14 from the SW.
The East Cape: less than 10 for the next 3 days. Today NE, tomorrow SE and on Friday NW.
The Sonoran passage south from Guaymas to Mazatlan: The mid teens from the SW for the 3-day forecast period.
The Mexican Riviera, Mazatlan: 16-17 knots from the SW for the 3-day forecast period.
Puerto Vallarta: 10-12 NW winds for the next 3 days.
Cabo Corrienties: low teens from the SW today, and low teens from the NW for the next two days.
South of the cape: light to moderate SW winds for the 3-day forecast
period.
Temperature-wise the highs will be in the 90 for the rest of this work week in the central and southern Sea of Cortez and then cool off some next week.
