Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that the Sea or Cortez is pretty much free and any clouds. There are a few whispys passing over the cape this morning but that is it for the Sea.
Looking south to the west coast of Mexico it looks like from around Mazatlan south they should see some high whispys today, and around Manzanillo there are some dark bottomed clouds passing over this morning and it looks like that pattern will continue most of the day along with patches of sunshine.
Further south in the Gulf of Tehuantepec a late season Tehuantepecker is brewing this morning. GALE force winds will increase to STORM force by tomorrow morning with Sea building to 22 feet. The winds will diminish back to GALE force by Thursday morning and further diminish during the day Thursday. At the peak of this event 55 knot winds are forecast.
That’s what is going on in our hood. Looking now north to the west coast of America where at the top of this image in the Great Northwest a weak cold front will bring rain and high mountain snow to western Washington through this evening as it passed to the east. Decreasing showers are forecast for tonight. Wednesday and Thursday will see partly cloudy skies and then on Friday another trough will move through bringing on another chance of showers. Next weekend is expected to be sunny and warmer for the entire Great Northwest.
In northern California high pressure over the western states will bring fair skies and well above normal temperatures though most of the week. A weak Pacific low will weaken the west coast ridge and bring a threat of showers and thunderbumpers to the mountains at the end of the week.
In southern California the high pressure will bring warm and dry weather through Wednesday. Gradual cooling Thursday and Friday as the ridge weakens and a low trough approaches from the west. This trough will bring cooling Saturday along with the return of the marine layer west of the mountains. Right now it looks like a warming trend on tap for next week.
Looking now over to the southwest where very high pressure building over the desert southwest will bring much above normal temperatures to the region through the end to the workweek with a few of the warmest lower desert locations seeing 100 degree highs by the middle of the week.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence today will see winds in the high teens in the central Sea and a bit less in the southern Sea. The rest of the week expect mostly light to moderate winds with a southern flavor later in the week.
Here are the wind details for the 3-day forecast period.
The northern Sea: 18 today from the NW then light northerlies tomorrow and light southerlies on Thursday.
The Guaymas side of the central Sea: around 23 today from the NW, 14 tomorrow NW and then on Thursday light SW.
The Baja side of the central Sea: 19 today from the NW then low teens from the NE for the next two days.
Puerto Escondido: 16 today NW, around 11 tomorrow from the NE and then on Thursday light SE.
The southern Sea, the San Lorenzo Channel, and the nearby islands. Low teens today from the NW and then light SE or SW for the next two days.
La Paz: 13 today from the NW, light NE tomorrow and light SW on Thursday.
The Sonoran passage south from Guaymas to Mazatlan ballpark around 21 today from the NW then mid teens tomorrow and Thursday from the SW.
Mexican Riviera: Mazatlan today: light NW, tomorrow around 18 from the SW and around 18 from the NW again on Thursday.
Puerto Vallarta to Cabo Corrienties: light NW today, light SW tomorrow and light NW again on Thursday.
South of the cape Manzanillo around 16 today from the SW then the low teens from the SW for the next two day. South of Manzanillo light SW winds for the 3-day forecast period.
Temperature-wise the rest of the workweek the central and southern seas will be seeing Temperatures in the 90s. Then a cooling trend next week.
