Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that the last of that moisture plume that has blanketed the Sea for the past several days has passed over the Sea last night. This morning the skies have just a few stragglers so it looks like the sea should have abundant sunshine today. There is lots of cloudiness out in the Pacific but it does not look like it will be moving east into our hood today.
Looking south I can see some lingering clouds in the Puerto Vallarta area. That area too should see mostly sunshine all day.
Further south in the Gulf of Tehuantepec it remains quiet this morning. A cold front will move across the Gulf of Mexico tomorrow night. This will increase winds funneling through the Chivela Pass into tomorrow night. Winds may briefly approach near GALE force late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning.
That’s what is going on in our hood. Looking now north to the west coast of America where in this image I can see that 1000 mb low has dropped out of the Gulf of Alaska slowly moving down the British Columbia coast. This is the weather-maker that will be bringing rain and snow to Washington, Oregon and perhaps as far south as central California starting tomorrow and into Wednesday.
In Seattle the rain will start this evening and then off and on showers throughout the week.
In northern California rain will start on Tuesday continue on into Wednesday then the low will exit to the east on Thursday. Lingering showers lasting into Friday. Snow levels will drop to around 4000 feet on Wednesday.
In southern California it will be slightly warmer today. The LA basin could see some light rain from the system going through northern California mid week.
San Diego to the south will continue to be warm and dry for the 3-day forecast period albeit a bit gusterly in the mountains and deserts.
Looking now over to the southwest where it continues to be warm and dry. The higher elevations could see some mountain showers around mid week with a slight cooler temperatures on Thursday.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence it looks like another 3 days of light to moderate winds in the Sea.
Here are the wind details for the 3-day forecast period.
The northern Sea: light NE today. Light SE Tuesday and Wednesday.
The Guaymas side of the central Sea: mid teens today from the NW then light southerlies on Wednesday.
The Baja side of the central Sea: mid to high teens for from the NE for the next 3 days. A bit less at Puerto Escondido.
The southern Sea, the San Lorenzo Channel, and the nearby islands. Light NE today, light NW tomorrow and light SW on Wednesday.
La Paz: light NW for the next 3 days.
The East Cape: mid teens today and tomorrow from the NW and then light NE on Wednesday.
The Sonoran passage south from Guaymas to Mazatlan: high teens today from the NW and then mid teens from the NW for the next two days.
Mexican Riviera: Mazatlan, mid teens from the west of the 3-day forecast period.
Puerto Vallarta: light NW for the next 3 days.
Cabo Corrienties: light NW today and tomorrow and light SW on Wednesday.
South of the cape mostly light SW for the 3-day forecast period.
