Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that tropical moisture plume is still with us. No sun at all yesterday here in Concepcion Bay. This image is showing the plume is drying up and this is probably the last day it will provide us with cloudy skies. We could start to see the sun starting in the north to the south this afternoon.
Looking south to the west coast of Mexico where again this morning the west coast of Mexico remains clear of any clouds.
The Gulf of Tehuantepec is quiet this morning and the forecast is for very light northerlies for the 3-day forecast period.
That’s what is going on in our hood. Looking now north to the west coast of America where the entire west coast will be warm and dry today. Tomorrow will start to see some cloudiness as a low trough approaches the west coast. Rain will start in Pacific North West and extreme northern California on Tuesday. Wednesday and Thursday northern California will see moderate to heavy rain with snow levels starting on Tuesday around 6000 feet and dropping to 4000 feet on Wednesday. This STORM will probably drop about another foot of new snow at the higher elevations and about a half inch of rain in the Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys.
Long range is showing another wet system arriving late next week.
In southern California morning fog and warm afternoons are on tap for the first part of the week. They will see some increase in the gusterly afternoon breezes and a slight chance of rain from the northern California system on Friday, most likely just in the mountains.
Looking now over to the southwest where variable high clouds and dry conditions are expected into early next week with above average high temperatures. It will be breezy at times again today as weak systems pass by to the north. There is a slight chance of showers near the New Mexico border for the middle of next week along with a return of the gusterly winds on Wednesday.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence the light to moderate winds in the Sea of Cortez will continue throughout the weekend and Monday and the long range models are showing pretty much the same for the rest of the month.
Here are the wind details for the 3-day forecast period.
The northern Sea: around 10 from the NE for the weekend, picking up to around 14 on Monday.
The Guaymas side of the central Sea: very light NW today. Around 16 tomorrow from the NW and around 19 on Monday from the NW.
The Baja side of the central Sea: mid teens from the NE for the 3-day forecast period.
Puerto Escondido a bit lighter with 13 knot southerlies today.
The southern Sea, the San Lorenzo Channel, and the nearby islands. Light NE for the next 3 days.
La Paz: light NE over the weekend and around 14 on Monday from the NE as well.
The East Cape: light NE today and then around 18 from the NW for the next two days.
The Sonoran passage south from Guaymas to Mazatlan today low to mid teens picking up to the high teens for Sunday and Monday.
Mexican Riviera: Mazatlan NW winds for the 3-day forecast period. Today light, tomorrow around 18 and 24 on Monday.
Puerto Vallarta to Cabo Corrienties: low teens from the NW for the 3-day forecast period.
South of Cabo Corrienties mostly light WSW for the 3-day forecast period.
The 7am EarthWind Map showed 8-12 knot winds in the Sea this morning.
