Voice to Text

It has had to be an anxious night for the cruisers here in the cove with 40-50 knot winds starting at midnight. High gust was 51 knots at 1:30 and 40 knot gusts still at 7 am this morning. At 7 am a 44 knot gust blew out my upstairs window. I have a 30-40 knot GALE blowing dust through my palapa this morning.
Looking outside at 7am I can see very very strong winds blowing from the NE blowing the tops off of waves and 40 knot winds blowing down the canyon behind me.
Here is what the satellites are showing this morning.
Looking down into the Sea this morning it’s what I can’t see is what the winds were doing in the Sea last night as the satellites OSACT AND ASCAT were not showing the Sea. Both shooting blanks this morning.

What I can see with the 24 hour loop is that tropical moisture plume slowly moving south down the Sea yesterday clearing the skies over the central Sea late in the morning and the web cams as well as this image showing overcast skies late in the afternoon in La Paz and south.
During the night the plume has moved south of the cape and pretty much dissipated.
What are left are some scattered multi-level clouds passing of the Puerto Vallarta area this morning and that’s about it for clouds along the west coast of Mexico this morning.
The Gulf of Tehuantepec is calm this morning but a short lived wind-event is expected to start early tomorrow building to GALE force winds by the afternoon. It should start to diminish Tuesday morning and be in the 15-20 knot ranges by the afternoon.
That’s what is going on in our hood. Looking now north to the west coast of America where a cold front in moving into the Great Northwest today bringing rain to Washington, Oregon and Idaho. Snow to the Cascades but it looks like none will fall in the Sierras. There is also a flood watch in affect for many western Washington counties though tomorrow.
In northern California there is a slight chance that extreme northern California could see some rain, but the Bay Area and the Sacramento Valley will see warm and dry weather today under high pressure.
In southern California high pressure aloft will bring warm condition to the coast and gusterly conditions to the deserts and mountains today. Small craft advisories have been posted in the San Diego area this afternoon through tomorrow morning.
Looking over to the southwest where that backdoor front that moved through New Mexico yesterday is still giving cause to gusterly winds this morning. They are expected to diminish later this morning and become lighter today. Otherwise clear skies with above normal temperatures are expected for the rest of the week.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence it will be windy in the Sea of Cortez today. All the charts are showing around 30 or less, but I’d expect to see gusts higher than that. The earthwind map showed in increase in the winds in the central Sea from 42 to 46 knot at 6am.
Here are the wind details from my charts for this afternoon the 3-day forecast period.
The northern Sea: 22 NW today, 16 SE tomorrow, and 12 NE on Tuesday.
The Guaymas side of the central Sea: 24 NE today, 15 tomorrow from the NW and around 13 from the SE on Tuesday.
The Baja side of the central Sea: 28 today from the NW. 13 tomorrow NE and 17 NE on Tuesday.
Puerto Escondido: about the same thing.
The southern Sea, the San Lorenzo Channel, La Paz and the nearby islands. Mid to high 20s today, 10 NW tomorrow and 15 SW on Tuesday.
The Sonoran passage south from Guaymas to Mazatlan low 20s from the NW today and tomorrow and a bit less than 20 from the south on Tuesday.
The Mexican Riviera: Mazatlan, 20 today NW, 16 tomorrow NW and 24 from the south on Tuesday.
Puerto Vallarta: light NW today, light NE tomorrow and light SW on Tuesday.
Cabo Corrienties: 18 from the NW today light SW Monday and Tuesday.
South of the cape mostly light SE for the 3-day forecast period.
