Looking down into the Sea this morning these satellite images are showing the Sea to have some isolated pockets of fluffys here and there. Yesterday there were considerable scattered clouds around the Sea of Cortez that these IR satellites I use in the morning do not show. I can only see them with the daylight images and by then it’s too late for the broadcast.
I’m going to say that it looks like mostly sunshine for the Sea today. We’ll see?
Looking now south to the west coast of Mexico and the Mexican Riviera where there is some cloudiness in the Zihuatanejo and Acapulco area but that’s it for the west coast.
Nothing going on in the Gulf of Tehuantepec this morning with just very light wind in their forecast.
So that’s what is going on in our hood. Looking now north to the west coast of America where the Great Northwest continues to get wet and wetter. Flood advisories and warning have been posted on many rivers and streams in western Washington this morning. The concern for landslides is also in the Washington state weather news. The wetness will continue well into next week and several more weak systems move through the state.
It is currently raining from Seattle to around Eureka and will spread in the Sacramento Valley later this morning bringing several inches of rain to northern California today and into tomorrow.
The moisture plume bringing this rain has a tropical moisture tap so the snowfall accumulations will only be around 2-6 inches at pass level with up to 10 inches at the higher peaks. The system should exit quickly to the east on Monday bringing clear skies by Monday afternoon.
Looking now to southern California where high pressure off the coast and surface high pressure the Great Basin will bring warm weather to the region today albeit a bit breezy.
Looking now over to the southwest where they can expect dry conditions over the deserts and only a slight chance of a snow flurries over the White Mountains today. No rain is expected from a weak system moving through to the north today and temperatures will remain slightly above normal through the end of the week with highs in the lower 80s across the deserts.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back in this side of the Fence strong winds in the northern Sea to around San Francisquito bay should be the high 20s today. The central Sea brisk winds the low 20s. The southern Sea mid to low teens.
Here are the wind details for the 3-day forecast period.
The northern Sea: around 28 today from the NW and the next two days should see very light NE winds, less than 10.
The Guaymas side of the central Sea: around 21 from the NW today, 12 NW tomorrow and less than 10 on Tuesday from the SW.
The Baja side of the central Sea: mid to high teens today from the NW, light NE tomorrow and moderate NE on Tuesday.
Puerto Escondido: low teens from the NE today and Monday then mid teens on Tuesday from the SE.
The southern Sea, the San Lorenzo Channel, and the nearby islands. Mostly light NE winds for the 3-day forecast period.
La Paz: low teens today and tomorrow from the NE and light NE on Tuesday.
The Sonoran passage south from Mazatlan to Guaymas today: It looks like Los Mochas is on the cusp between SW and the northerlies coming down the Sea today. Los Mochas is forecast to have around 18 today from the SW, light southerlies tomorrow and light NW on Tuesday.
From there to the half way point light NE today, light NW tomorrow and light SE on Tuesday.
From the half way point north to just north of Guaymas mid teens from the NW for the 3-day forecast period.
The Mexican Riviera, Mazatlan today around 20 from the SE, tomorrow 14 from the south and Tuesday 14 from the NW.
Puerto Vallarta to Cabo Corrienties: light SW today then light NW for the next two days.
South of Cabo Corrienties: mostly light SW however Zihuatanejo light NW for the 3-day forecast period.
