Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that the Sea of Cortez is pretty much free of any clouds except for some whispys passing over the cape region this morning.
Looking now south to the west coast of Mexico and the Mexican Riviera it looks like around Puerto Vallarta they too will be seeing some whispys pass over this morning. No clouds to the south of Cabo Corrienties this morning.
Nothing going on in the Gulf of Tehuantepec this morning. Mid teens today then less than 10 for the next couple of days.
That’s what is going on in our hood. Looking now north to the west coast of America where rain, heavy at times, and snow are in the forecast for the Great Northwest for the rest of the week. Along with the rain, Portland has wind advisories posted today for gust to around 50 mph.
In northern California from Eureka north they too will continue to see off and on rain for the rest of the week.
In southern California the storms going through the north state are causing a cooling trend and gusterly winds in the deserts and mountains. It should be warmer Friday into the weekend.
Looking now over to the southwest where the skies are clear close to the Fence this morning. It looks like they will be seeing one more day of near record temperatures then a gradual cooling trend for the rest of the work week but temperatures will remain above average into at least early next week. A system passing north of the area will bring gusterly winds tomorrow. A gradual warming trend will then return through the weekend as high pressure builds back in the Pacific.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence it looks like we will see two more days of these very moderate winds then on Thursday a 1000 low will be moving through the Great Basin and give cause to strong winds in the Sea that day. Once the system passed to the east the Sea should be seeing moderate winds again for the rest of the week into the weekend.
Here are the wind details for the 3-day forecast period.
The northern Sea: Light NE today. Light SE tomorrow. Then around 25 on Thursday from the NW.
The Guaymas side of the central Sea: Light NW today and tomorrow and around 25 on Thursday from the NW.
The Baja side of the central Sea: 12-15 today and tomorrow from the NE then 24 from the NW on Thursday.
Puerto Escondido: 10-13 today and tomorrow from the SE and around 17 from the NE on Thursday.
The southern Sea, the San Lorenzo Channel, La Paz and the nearby islands. Light NW today, mid teens tomorrow from the SW and a bit less on Thursday from the NE.
The East Cape: low teens today from the NW, light SE tomorrow and low teens again on Thursday from the NE.
The Sonoran passage south from Guaymas to Mazatlan mid teens for the 3-day forecast period. Today NW, tomorrow SW and Thursday NW again.
Mexican Riviera: Mazatlan, low teens from the SW for the 3-day forecast period.
Puerto Vallarta less than 10 from the NW for the next 3 days.
Cabo Corrienties: light NW today, light SW tomorrow and light NW again on Thursday.
South of the cape: mostly light SW for the 3-day forecast period.
