Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that off the Baja west coast there some cloudiness out there that broken straggly stings of clouds are breaking off from the main plume and drifting toward central Baja. From time to time today central Baja will see these mostly high whispys passing over. Otherwise the skies look to be pretty much clear for the rest of the Sea this morning.
To the south along the west coast of Mexico and the Mexican Riviera I am unable to see any clouds along the west coast of Mexico this morning.
In the Gulf of Tehuantepec this morning we have a brief Tehuantepecker that is winding down. The GALE event is over and winds are currently around 20-25 and should be below that later this afternoon.
That’s what going on in our hood. Looking now north to the west coast of America where another system in a series of storms will bring heavy rain to the Great Northwest and snow to the Cascades today. Much of Oregon and Washington are still under flood watches and advisories. They should see a break in the weather about mid week. We’ll see?
In northern California from Eureka north along the coast and Redding north inland they continue to see lingering showers this morning. Another round of wet weather should start today for extreme northern California then taper off later in the week.
In southern California It will be a bit cooler due to the systems to the north. As they pass to the east and high pressure rebuilds in the Eastern Pacific for the later half of the week it will bring warmer weather back.
Looking now over to the southwest where they should see near record high temperatures today across the lower deserts. A cooling trend will take place as a STORM drops down into the Great Basin as far as the 4 Corners. As it exits to the east high pressure will rebuild over the Great Basin and a warming trend will return late in the week.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence it looks like we will be having three more days of this delightful weather in the Sea.
Here are the wind details for the 3-day forecast period.
The northern Sea: light NE today and tomorrow and light SE on Wednesday.
The Guaymas side of the central Sea: low teen for today and tomorrow and then light NW on Wednesday.
The Baja side of the central Sea including Puerto Escondido: light to moderate NE for the 3-day forecast period.
The southern Sea, the San Lorenzo Channel, and the nearby islands.
Light NE today and tomorrow and moderate NW on Wednesday.
La Paz: light NW for today and tomorrow and around 18 from the NW on Wednesday.
The East Cape: mid teens today from the NW, low teens tomorrow from the NW and then on Wednesday light NW winds.
The Sonoran passage south from Guaymas to Mazatlan mid teens from the NW today and tomorrow and then light SW on Wednesday.
Mexican Riviera: Mazatlan, moderate NW for the next 3 days.
Puerto Vallarta: light NW for the next 3 days.
Cabo Corrienties: light NW for today and tomorrow and light SW on Wednesday.
South of Cabo Corrienties: mostly light SW for the next 3 days.
