Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that the Sea of Cortez is clear of any clouds this morning.
Looking south along the west coast of Mexico I can see that that coast is also clear all the way to Central America this morning.
We do have a Tehuantepecker brewing in the Gulf this morning. Winds should peak at around 35 knots this afternoon before starting to diminish. The event should be over by tomorrow morning. Sea should be below 8 feet by tomorrow morning as well.
That’s what is going on in our hood. Looking now north to the west coast of America where I can see that moisture plume that is bringing serious rain and snow to the Great Northwest is slipping a bit south and it is raining in Sacramento and the upper Sacramento valley this morning as well. In the Sierras this morning: snow is forecast above 9000 feet and will slowly lower over the next couple of days, with snow forecast for Lake Tahoe on Sunday.
The plume is forecast to continue to slowly inch its way south and by Sunday central California could be getting some rain.
In southern California high pressure off the southern California coast is keeping the region clear of wet weather. They will be experiencing unseasonable warm weather through Saturday. By the middle of next week they should start to see a cooling trend along with gusterly winds in the mountains and deserts.
Over in the southwest the Tucson area can expect dry conditions into early next week. Temperatures will be well above normal with widespread record or near record highs likely on Saturday.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence today the Sea will start to see diminishing winds. Strong today, moderate tomorrow and light on Saturday. Long range the upcoming week looks like very moderate winds in the Sea.
Here are the wind details for the 3-day forecast period.
The northern Sea: around 15 today and tomorrow from the NW and 14 from the SE on Saturday.
The Guaymas side of the central Sea: 23 today from the NW, 18 tomorrow NW and then less than 10 from the SW on Saturday.
The Baja side of the central Sea: 21 NW today, 18 NW tomorrow and then around 11 from the NE or SE on Saturday.
Puerto Escondido: 17 today from the NE, 14 tomorrow NE and around 10 from the SE on Saturday.
The southern Sea, the San Lorenzo Channel, and the nearby islands. Light NE winds for next 2 days then light SE on Saturday.
La Paz: around 14 today from the NW then light winds from the NE for the next two days.
The Sonoran passage south from Guaymas to Mazatlan around 19 today from the NW then 14 from the NE for the next two days.
The Mexican Riviera: in Mazatlan less then 10 for the 3-day forecast period. NW today and SW for the next two.
Puerto Vallarta to Cabo Corrienties light NW for the 3-day forecast period.
South of the cape just light SW breezes for the 3-day forecast period.
