.Well, looking down into the sea this morning I can see just a few what look like scattered fluffys in the Sea of Cortez. So it looks like the entire sea will be seeing abundant sunshine today.
Looking over at the Riviera, it looks like yesterday and last night they had a lot of passing whispys, but this morning most have moved off the to the east. Looking out into the Eastern Pacific Basin where that caldron of convections is at 130 this morning. It does not have that eastern flow that has been prevalent for past few weeks. So for most of the Riviera it looks like with the exception of a few whispys they too will be seeing abundant sunshine today. The southern portion, say from Ixtapa Zihuatanejo south may see a few more whispys today and I can see a small squall building off shore from Acapulco this morning. I doubt it will make to shore.
Looking at the west coast of the Baja peninsula this morning I can’t see any signs of a marine layer along the coast. However, this fog seeing satellite is showing what looks like fog in the La Paz area. This was confirmed by Erick on Mija.
The Tehuantepec has a gale going this morning forecast to increase to storm conditions later today, and the gulf of Papagayo is still having 20-25 today. They are forecast to increase to storm force winds tomorrow.
The rest of the Eastern Pacific Basin is pretty much cloud free so looking now up north to the West Coast of America.
It looks like the upper end of the Sacramento valley is fogged in this morning. In Portland this morning they are forecasting freezing fog. Further north in Washington they are still issuing flood warnings and advisories however it looks like they will start to dry out a bit for the next several days.
Although it does not affect our weather here this image is showing a huge frigid air mass dropping down from Canada into the central US. Temperatures will be down to zero with wind chills in the 15-20 degrees below zero for the mid west today.
Looking back to the west where it a bit warmer, the Great Basin as well as the west coast is under high pressure and mostly clear skies this morning. That high off the west coast will not start to move inland until late this weekend so the unseasonably warm daytime temperatures just to the north of us will continue for a few more days.
Back down here, it looks like we will be having a marvelous day in paradise. Moderate winds for a change in the northern and central sea. Abundant sunshine along with temperatures in the mid 70s for most of the sea and mid 80s for the Riviera today.
