Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see a few whispys passing over the northern Baja peninsula from around Puerto Escondido south this morning.
Looking south to the west coast of Mexico and the Mexican Riviera I can see some mostly high whispys passing over the entire Mexican Riviera this morning. It looks like it will be a hazy day for the Mexican Riviera today.
Looking south to the Gulf of Tehuantepec where GALE force winds have increased to STORM force and seas have built to as high as 24 feet 150 miles downstream from the Gulf.
Wind will diminish below STORM force by later this morning however the GALE force winds will continue through Sunday morning.
A very large area of north to northeast swell is being generated by this wind event and will spread south and southwest beyond 800 miles from the Tehuantepec by late tonight and reach portions of the Galapagos island chain as moderate NNW swell by Friday morning.
That’s what is going on in our hood. Looking now north to the west coast of America where from the Sierra Nevada range west the west coast is clear of any clouds.
Things still look bleak for California to see any rain this month. The models are showing the blocking high parked off the west coast just sitting there with no indications that it will move in the foreseeable future.
The forecast is for the above normal temperatures to continue at least until the end of the month for California. LA will see a high today of 81, San Diego 80 and San Francisco and the upper Sacramento valley around 70 today.
Looking over to the southwest where high pressure over the western conus will keep the region dry with seasonable cool mornings and above average daytime highs into next week. Sunrise in Tucson was around 40 and it will warm up to around 73 this afternoon.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence it looks like 20 knot winds today diminishing tomorrow and a bit more and Saturday with what looks like a very pleasant weekend.
Here are the wind details for the 3-day forecast period. The predominate winds will be from the NW.
The northern Sea: 22 today, 19 tomorrow and 14 on Saturday.
The Guaymas side of the central Sea: 24 today, 20 tomorrow and 17 on Saturday.
The Baja side of the central Sea: 26 today, 21 tomorrow and 16 on Saturday.
Puerto Escondido: 21NE today, 17NE tomorrow, and 12NE on Saturday.
The southern Sea, the San Lorenzo Channel, and the nearby islands. 12-15 from the NE for the 3-day forecast period.
La Paz: 17-18 today and tomorrow from the NW and around 14 on Saturday from the NW.
The East Cape: 18-19 from the NW for the today and tomorrow and then around 16 on Saturday.
The Sonoran passage south from Guaymas to Mazatlan half way:
20-24 today, light winds tomorrow and around 19 on Saturday. The second half mostly light NW winds for the 3-day forecast period.
The Mexican Riviera: Mazatlan 10 today from the SE. Tomorrow 10NE and Saturday 10NW.
Puerto Vallarta to Cabo Corrienties: light southerlies today, light NE or NW tomorrow and Saturday.
South of the cape light to moderate SW winds for the next three days.
