Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that this moisture plume that originates around 10N 120W continue to send a broad band of moisture laden clouds toward the Baja peninsula this morning.
This morning the plume extends from the far northern Sea to around Cabo Corrienties. The satellite images are showing that most of the clouds are high whispys mixed with a few mid level fluffys. The images are also showing some showers in the mix off shore, but not over the Sea of Riviera this morning.
It looks like these conditions will be with us at least another 24 hours.
Looking south to the Gulf of Tehuantepec where STORM warnings have been posted by the National Hurricane Center starting tomorrow morning. The STORM force winds will persist through early Tuesday with seas building to around 23 feet downstream. GALE conditions will last through late Wednesday.
That’s what is going on in our hood. Looking now north to the west coast of America where at the top of this image where the Great Northwest will enjoy another sunny day then the rest of the weak several systems will bring more rain and mountain snow to the region.
In northern California all the talk is about the lows off the west coast that will be attacking the high that has been out there for over a month. There are several lows progged to move into northern California this week but the latest computer runs say no rain to speak of. Perhaps a 10th of an inch from one of the systems later in the week, but it looks like California will continue to remain dry next week.
That’s the bad news, the good news is that these relatively weak systems will significantly weaken the high and that should open the door for more systems to move into northern California.
In southern California it will be warm and dry and foggy along the coast in the mornings. There is a slight chance they could see some light rain Thursday as one of those systems moves through to the north.
Looking now over to the southwest where wind advisories have been posted for Laughlin, Bullhead City and Needles this morning. Gust to 45 mph are being forecast.
For the Tucson area high pressure will bring dry conditions and mild daytime temperatures into the middle of the week. A system is forecast to drop down from the Great Northwest into the Great Basin Thursday and Friday bringing a chance of some valley rain and mountain snow.

That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the
Fence it looks like we will be having a couple of days of relatively strong winds in the northern and central Sea then Tuesday through the end of the week, right now, it look like a return to the moderate winds. Don’t chisel that in stone yet for late next week, we should have a better picture tomorrow though.
Here are the wind details for the 3-day forecast period. All winds from the NW.
The northern Sea: 26-27 today and tomorrow and around 12 on Tuesday.
The Guaymas side of the central Sea: 23 today, 28 tomorrow and 19 on Tuesday.
The Baja side of the central Sea: 22 today, 30 tomorrow and 18 on Tuesday.
Puerto Escondido: 18 today, 26 tomorrow and around 14 on Tuesday.
The southern Sea, the San Lorenzo Channel, and the nearby islands. Light to moderate NE winds for the 3-day forecast period.
La Paz: 14 today from the NE. 22 tomorrow from the NW and around 13 on Tuesday from the NW.
The East Cape: mostly light NW winds for the 3-day forecast period.
The Sonoran passage south from Guaymas to Mazatlan to half way: mid teens today, around 23 tomorrow and back to around 16 on Tuesday. The second half light to moderate NW winds for the 3-day forecast period.
Mexican Riviera: Mazatlan today and tomorrow moderate NW and light SW on Tuesday. The Puerto Vallarta area: mostly light NW for the next 3 days. Cabo Corrienties: moderate NW today and tomorrow and light SW on Tuesday. Manzanillo south mostly light SW winds for the next 3 days.
