Voice to Text

Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that the Sea of Cortez has been cloud free for the past 24 hours with the exception of some isolated patches of fluffys hear and there.
Looking south to the west coast of Mexico I can see a ragged moisture plume to the west of Cabo Corrienties sending light bands of mostly whispys over that region that will most likely continue all day. The 24 hour loop showed this plume very heavy yesterday and the reporting station at Puerto Vallarta reported.91 inches of rain there and the Nuevo Vallarta station reported 1.28 inches of rain.
Further south in the Gulf of Tehuantepec a gale force wind event is forecast to start tomorrow morning with winds building to 30-40 knots by tomorrow afternoon and up to 45 by tomorrow night with the possibility of some 50 knot gusts. Seas will build to around 17-18 feet by tomorrow night. This Tehuantepecker should last until sometime Christmas day.
That’s what is going on in our hood. Looking now north to the west coast of America where high pressure off the California west coast is keeping the storm track well to the north.
Both Portland and Seattle will have wet streets today then the Great Northwest will most likely see dry conditions for the rest of the week.
In northern California that ridge of high pressure will continue to deflect all storm systems well to the north and maintain dry conditions across the region with mostly sunny, mild and hazy days along with clear and cold nights.
Long range models are seeing no additional rain this year in northern California and San Francisco will see the driest calendar year on record.
Overnight temperatures in the inland valleys have been running in the mid 30s.
In southern California high pressure will blanket the region through late next week resulting in a warming trend of around 10 degrees above normal though Friday.
Looking now over to the southwest where this image is showing the skies clearing from west to east this morning and clear skies forecast for the rest of the day. The high pressure in the region will translate to warmer weather this coming week starting tomorrow.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence the northern Sea will see moderate winds in the mid teens today to around San Francisquito bay. The rest of the Sea NW 20-24 today. Tomorrow the northern and central Sea the winds will crank up to the high 20s low 30s. Then for the rest of the week ballpark 20 knot winds in the afternoons.
Here are the wind details for the 3-day forecast period. All winds will be from the NW.
The northern Sea: around 15 today, 30 tomorrow and 20 on Tuesday.
The Guaymas side of the central Sea: 21-25 for the next 3 days.
The Baja side of the central Sea: 24 today, around 30 tomorrow and back to around 22 on Tuesday.
The southern Sea, the San Lorenzo Channel, and the nearby islands. Around 21 today and tomorrow and low teens on Tuesday.
La Paz and the East Cape: 25 today and tomorrow and back to around 16 on Tuesday.
The Sonoran passage south from Guaymas to Mazatlan, the first half of the passage 19-25. The second half in the mid to high teens.
The Mexican Riviera: Mazatlan today and tomorrow 15-17 and then around 10 on Tuesday. Puerto Vallarta area light NW winds for the 3-day forecast period.
Cabo Corrienties around 15 this pm then light NW for tomorrow and Tuesday.
South of the cape mostly light SW winds.
Temperature-wise most locations showed a few degrees warmer this morning that yesterday and with high pressure and a warming trend forecast to the north of us we should also see a warming trend this week. That being said, the long range models are showing ballpark 20 knot winds in the afternoons for the better part of the week so the wind chill will negate some of this warming.
