Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see the moisture plume that has been bringing clouds to the cape region and the northern end of the Mexican Riviera has weakened, narrowed and slid a bit to the south overnight.
The convection along the ITCZ/Monsoon trough that is supporting this plume has weakened as well as has the rest of the convection along the zone this morning. Just a few thunderbumpers along 7N this morning.
One of the images I use is showing some fluffys here and there in the Sea this morning with most of the Sea being cloud free. A quick look outside my window confirmed: fluffys off to the east this morning.
Looking south to the Mexican Riviera I can see a Vail of mostly whispys passing over the southern crossing south to Manzanillo this morning.
The rest of the coast is clear to Central America this morning.
No sooner than we shut the door to the Tropical Kitchen we open the gate to the Chivela pass letting those cold northers surge into the Gulf of Tehuantepec. The Tehuantepecker season has started. This morning we have a full blown Tehuantepecker brewing in the Gulf with gale force winds surging through the Chivela pass. The wind event is expected to last until Tuesday with seas to 17 feet.
That’s what is going on in our hood. Looking now north to the west coast of America where the storm door is open for the Great Northwest. Today a cold front will bring more wet weather to the Pacific Northwest extending south to around Crescent city.
The rest of northern California will remain dry and cool over the weekend. Early next week a developing low off in the Pacific and deliver rain mostly to the north of the Golden Gate. Following it’s passage high pressure will fill in in it’s wake and bring warmer and dry conditions to the north state.
In southern California fair weather will continue through Friday
with a cooling trend. With the passing of the low to the north on Tuesday it will bring cooler weather until the high starts to rebuild on Wednesday then it will warm back up again.
Looking now over to the southwest where high pressure will bring dry conditions with above normal daytime temperatures into early next week, that will continue until Wednesday when a back-door front will brings cooler temperatures and gusterly conditions.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence it looks like we will be going into the weekend like a lamb and come out like a Lyon. It looks like we will be seeing ballpark 20 knot winds into mid next week as well.
Here are the wind details for the 3-day forecast period.
The northern Sea: light from NE today and tomorrow then around 15 on Sunday.
The Guaymas side of the central Sea: NW for the 3-day forecast period. Today light, tomorrow moderate and Sunday strong to around 22.
The Baja side of the central Sea: light NE today and tomorrow and Sunday 20 knot northwesterlies.
Puerto Escondido: light NE today and tomorrow and around 18 know northerlies on Sunday.
The southern Sea, the San Lorenzo Channel, and the nearby islands. NE for the 3-day forecast period. Today 10, tomorrow 13 and Sunday 15.
La Paz: light NE today, moderate NE tomorrow and around 20 from the NW on Sunday.
The East Cape: light northerlies today, NW at 18 tomorrow and around 23 on Sunday.
The Mexican Riviera: Mazatlan today around 20 from the east. Tomorrow light NW and Sunday moderate NW.
Puerto Vallarta: light NE for the next 3 days. Cabo Corrienties: NW for the 3-day forecast period. Today light, tomorrow 11 and Sunday 14.
South of Cabo Corrienties: mostly light NW or SW for the 3-day forecast period.
