Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see the Sea of Cortes is for the most part clear of any clouds. I can see occasional fluffys here and there though.
Looking south to the west coast of Mexico and the Mexican Riviera I can see some thunderbumper activity between Zihuatanejo and Acapulco this morning mostly off shore.
Further south the Tehuantepec is quiet this morning however a cold front is forecast to move through the SW Gulf of Mexico on Thursday bringing on a Tehuantepecker with gale force winds in the Gulf.
Looking out into the Eastern Pacific basin and the ITCZ/Monsoon trough I can see a ragged moisture plume moving off the zone toward Cabo Corrienties and the Puerto Vallarta area. They could see some sprinkles out of this plume as this image is showing some dark bottomed clouds within the plume.
That’s what is going on in our hood. Looking now north to the west coast of America where at the top of this image is a big honk’n low sitting in the Gulf of Alaska this morning.
In the Great Northwest a cold front will usher in wet weather to Washington, Oregon and northern California today. Heavy snow is expected in the northern Cascades.
Rainy weather will push across Oregon, extreme Northern California and Nevada today.
The bay area south will see some cloudiness but dry conditions the rest of this week. After a very long stretch of much drier than normal weather forecasters in northern California are rather bullish in forecasting a major change will take place starting next week.
In the L.A. basin it will be dry and the gusterly winds will continue today. Wind sheltered areas can expect sub-freezing temperatures overnight due to the dry air mass. An overall cooling trend is expected into the weekend as low systems pass to the north.
In extreme southern California warm and dry weather will continue today and Thursday. High pressure weakens on Friday through the weekend which will bring a cooling trend.
Looking now over to the southwest where it will continue to be clear and cold the next couple of mornings. This image is showing a lot of cloudiness in the far northern portion of Arizona but the SW is pretty much clear this morning. They can expect warmer temperatures possibly early next week.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of he Fence it looks like this is day two of a 3-day blow with the strongest winds today.
Here are the wind details for the 3-day forecast period.
The northern Sea: 31 today NW, 19 tomorrow NW, and around 10 from the NE on Friday.
The Guaymas side of the central Sea: 28 today NW, 20 tomorrow NW and then 12 on Friday from the NW.
The Baja side of the central Sea: 29 today NW, 21 tomorrow NW and around 12 knots on Friday from the NE.
Puerto Escondido: 26 today NW, 15 tomorrow NE and 12 knots from the NE on Friday.
The southern Sea, the San Lorenzo Channel, and the nearby islands. It looks like NE for the next 3 days. Strong today to around 20 then less than ten on Thursday and Friday.
La Paz: 20 today NW, 11-12 from the NW on Thursday and Friday.
The East Cape: about the same with NW winds on tap for the next 3 days. Today around 20 then 11-13 on Thursday and Friday.
The Mexican Riviera: light NW north of Cabo Corrienties and light SW south of the cape for the 3-day forecast period.
