Voice to Text

Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that the skies have again been clear over Baja for the past 24 hours.
Looking south to the west coast of Mexico and the Mexican Riviera I can see a lot of thunderbumper activity west of the Gulf of Tehuantepec where that low popped up yesterday. I’ll talk about that in a moment.
Looking out into the Eastern Pacific basin along the ITCZ/Monsoon trough I can see considerable activity along the zone this morning.
Looking back to the west coast of Mexico the coast is pretty much clear until you get down to around Zihuatanejo then I can see a lot of thunderbumper activity all along the coast south.
It’s a good thing I kept the fat lady sitting backstage for a few more days. Yesterday afternoon a low popped up SW of the Gulf of Tehuantepec. This morning it is 355 miles west of the Gulf and 1020 miles south of the cape. The National Hurricane Center is giving this a good chance of becoming our 17th named storm of the year, Raymond. The current track have it paralleling the west coast of Mexico at around 15 mph, that’s pretty fast, 360 miles a day. It won’t take long to reach the colder waters that are generally unfavorable for tropical development; however tropical storm Octave just came through this region and dumped a lot of water on Baja. So no guesses from me on this storm. I’ll keep the smiley face up on the tropical page just for luck though.
Of note: Yesterday I had two emails asking, “What’s the deal with the fat lady singing”? Well, it has nothing to do with some overweight singer
I know. In fact I don’t even know a fat singer. It ain't over till (or until) the fat lady sings is a colloquialism. It means that one should not presume to know the outcome of an event which is still in progress. The phrase is generally understood to be referencing the stereotypically overweight sopranos of Grand Opera, none of which I know.
So endith, “Fat lady singing 101”
That’s what is happening in our hood. Looking now north to the west coast of America where high pressure is the headliner.
In the Great Northwest the high pressure will bring benign and rain-free weather through at least the middle of next week. It was foggy in Seattle this morning.
In northern California the Bay Area is also fogged in this morning. It should clear by mid morning as usual. The high pressure ridge will continue to produce dry and sunny conditions with seasonable temperatures in the 60s on the coast and 80s well inland.
In southern California they will continue to see near seasonal temperatures and dry weather through the middle of next week. I can see a low swirling out in the northern Pacific this morning that should arrive in California late in the week bringing some colder weather.
Looking now over to the southwest where there will be little day to day change in the weather through the next week. It will continue to be clear and dry with a slow warming trend today and tomorrow.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence it looks like we are going to see one more day of these moderately strong winds.
Here are the wind details for the 3-day forecast period.
The northern Sea: NW today to around 18 knots, then low teens tomorrow from the NE.
The Guaymas side of the central Sea: WNW for the 3-day forecast period. 21 today, 18 tomorrow then less than 10 on Monday.
The Baja side of the central Sea: NW today and tomorrow and NE on Monday. Today high teens, tomorrow mid teens and Monday low teens.
Puerto Escondido about the same for the 3-day forecast period.
The southern Sea, the San Lorenzo Channel, La Paz and the nearby islands. All from the NE for the next 3 days. Mid teens today, Low teens tomorrow and less than 10 on Monday.
The East Cape: NW today in the high teens, tomorrow north around 15 and Monday low teens from the north.
The Mexican Riviera: less than 10 for the entire Riviera mostly from the SW.
