Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that the Sea of Cortez has been cloud free for the past 24 hours.
Looking south to the west coast of Mexico and the Mexican Riviera where it too is pretty much cloud free this morning. In fact most of Mexico including Sonora and the Tehuantepec region had been pretty much cloud free for the past 24 hours. Oh there have been a few fluffys here and there and around Mexico City where the forecast is just for cloudy skies today, not the normal summer showers that they have been having almost daily for the past month.
The only item of interest is a weak low west of Manzanillo. It is forecast to just park out there for a couple of days and die.
I’m not even going to put it on a back burner in our Tropical Kitchen
this morning. There is nothing tropical in the Tropical Kitchen this morning and there is nothing tropical on the horizon.
That’s what is going on in our hood. Looking now north to the west coast of America where the second or third of a series of storms will be moving though the Great Northwest today. More rain, the heaviest on the western facing slopes of the Cascades today. Due to how slow these systems are moving parts of Washington and northern Oregon will be vulnerable to flash flooding through this evening.
In northern California light scattered rain showers are expected to start this morning and last most of the day with clearing tomorrow. Most of the rain will be in along the coast and in the upper Sacramento valley.
In southern California it will be sunny and warm today but tomorrow through Thursday it will be gradually cooler. High pressure is progged to start to rebuild on Friday into the weekend warming the southland back up a bit.
Looking now over to the southwest where this image is showing clear skies. The southwest is expected to see temperatures a tad above seasonal norms. A cold Pacific storm will move through the Great Basin Thursday and Friday just brushing Arizona but cooling off the state a bit.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence it looks like the region will be seeing moderate winds and lots of sunshine for the 3-day forecast period.
Here are the wind details for the 3-day forecast period.
The northern Sea: around 10 knots in the afternoons with today the NE and Tuesday and Wednesday the SE.
The Guaymas side of the central Sea: the mid teens today from the NW then light WSW tomorrow and light NW on Wednesday.
The Baja side of the central Sea: the mid teens from the NE for the 3-day forecast period.
In between the central and southern Sea we have Puerto Escondido today and this morning and they should see light to moderate winds for the next 3 days. Today NE, Tomorrow SE and Wednesday light SE.
The southern Sea, the San Lorenzo Channel, La Paz and the nearby islands I’m call it light and variable for the 3-day forecast period mostly less than 10 knots.
The East Cape: light to moderate winds for the 3-day forecast period. Today and tomorrow NE, Wednesday NW.
The Mexican Riviera: it looks like its back to the old pattern of light to moderate NW to the north to Cabo Corrienties and light to moderate SW to the south of the cape.
