Voice to Text

Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that there was considerable thunderbumper activity in Sonora and along the west coat of Mexico yesterday and last night.
Yesterday morning a very large cell moved across the southern crossing bringing what looked like some rain to the cape region. That being said, I noted that none of the reporting stations reported any rain around the cape yesterday. It sure looked like rain through.
This morning most of the remnant clouds in the crossing are gone but there are still some lingering cells over between La Paz and the cape in the mountains this morning.
The rest of the Sea looks to have scattered remnant clouds about that will most likely burn off by early morning. We’ll see?
Looking south along the west coast of Mexico and the Mexican Riviera this morning I can see there is not much going on along the coast this morning. Not only along the coast but inland as well.
The Gulf of Tehuantepec is quiet as well this morning and the forecast is for very light winds for the 3-day forecast period.
Looking at the ITCZ/Monsoon trough this morning I can see there is…we’ll call it moderate thunderbumper activity along the zone this morning.
Long range forecasts are suggesting a series of lows developing along the zone over the next couple of days. Looking out into the Atlantic I can see a couple of Tropical Waves head our way. Well, only one, the other is the remnants of tropical storm Dorian. The other is way out around 31W.
So it looks like there will be nothing cooking in our Tropical Kitchen for at least the next couple of days.
During my two-day sojourn to San Diego it looks like Sister Flossy has left the area and the last advisory for the Eastern Pacific basin said the interests in the Hawaiian islands should monitor Sister Flossy through the weekend. Looks like surfs up on the North Shore.
That’s what is going on in our hood. Looking now north to the west coast of America where with moderate high pressure over the western conus and a weak low off the west coast it looks like most of the west coast will be seeing sunshine with little changes in Temperature into next weekend. Temperatures in the inland California valleys will be around 100 this week.
Looking now over to the southwest where most of the area will see a break in the monsoon activity through tomorrow as drier air has moved across the area. The exception will be over in the SW corner of the state and along the Fence from Nogales east. The thunderbumpers should return with a daily cycle during the later part of this week into the weekend.
This week will start off with hot temperatures and then cool down a bit late in the week with the return of the afternoon and evening thumpers.
That’s what is gong on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence it looks like the Sea of Cortez will be seeing moderate winds over the next 3 days. Mostly in the mid teens with the exception of pt. Concepción. The forecast is for 20+ knot winds today but it may not live up to the forecast. We’ll see?
Here are the wind details for the 3-day forecast period.
The northern Sea: Bahia Keno Nuevo to Guaymas moderate southerlies today and moderate NW winds on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The Baja side: 18-21 SE at Pt. Concepción today then very moderate NE winds for Tuesday and Wednesday.
The southern Sea: the San Lorenzo Channel, La Paz and the nearby islands moderate SE today, moderate NE tomorrow and then light SE on Wednesday.
The East Cape: light mostly NE for the next 3 days.
The Mexican Riviera: Mazatlan moderate SW winds for the 3-day forecast period. The rest light SW for the next 3 days.
