Voice to Text

Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see there were a few whispys in both ends of the Sea yesterday. This morning the skies are clear in the Sea.
Looking south to along the west coast of Mexico where the skies are clear south to around Manzanillo where there has been a lot of thunderbumper activity back in the mountains, and in general, southern Mexico during the night. This image is showing most of the remnant clouds from these storms drifting east toward the Caribbean.
The Tehuantepec has been very active during the night with numerous thunderbumper building and then moving east along the isthmus.
Looking out into the Eastern Pacific basin I can see there is considerable activity all along the zone this morning. Most of the thunderbumpers are staying within in zone and not much in the way of any clouds are moving into the basin but are staying contained along the zone.
There is nothing cooking in out Tropical Kitchen this morning. There are still three Tropical Waves moving across the Atlantic this morning. The furthest one out is around 38W this morning. Another within the Monsoon trough is passing through Venezuela into Colombia this morning, so no danger from this wave. The other wave extends from the Northern Bahamas to Cuba and will probably end up passing through the Florida Keys. So right now it looks like none of these waves will be moving into the Eastern Pacific basin.
New to the Tropical Page of the Sonrisanet Webpage is a NASA map with a custom overlay I made to show the progress of Tropical Waves as they leave Africa and cross the Atlantic. Check it out.
OK, that’s what is going on in our hood. Looking now north to the west coast of America where at the top of this image I can see a low off the British Columbia coast drifting SE overnight and it looks like it will park over Seattle through tomorrow before moving east. Rain is in the forecast to as far south as Portland today and tomorrow.
In Northern California that low that moved up from southern California yesterday put on a spectacular lightning show last night in most of northern California. Here are some totals of the strikes. San Francisco 418, 177 over Sonoma County, 15 over Napa County, 11 in Contra Costa County and 215 along the coastal waters beginning around midnight last night.
That must have been very impressive.
Today the skies should start to clear along with a slight warming trend with near normal temperatures by the end of the week.
For Southern California relatively low pressure is over central and southern California this morning. This image is showing the marine layer to be shallower this morning so the low clouds and fog that have been extending inland quite a way during the night will taper off a bit until later in the week. Temperatures should be near seasonal norms from Wednesday through next weekend.
Looking now over to the southwest where high pressure continues to blanket the region. It will be hot and dry through Thursday. Friday into the weekend they could see some limited moisture move up from Mexico resulting in some thunderbumpers in the higher elevations.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on his side of the Fence in general moderate southerlies for the Sea of Cortez.
Here are the wind details for the 3-day forecast period.
The northern Sea: light easterly today then moderate SE for Wednesday and Thursday.
The central Sea, Sonoran side: Moderate, mid teens, from the SE for the 3-day forecast period. The Baja side: 16-19 SE for the next 3 days.
The southern Sea, the San Lorenzo channel, La Paz and the nearby islands: Mostly moderate SW around the islands and light to moderate SE in the La Paz basin.
The East Cape: light SE over the next 3 days.
The Sonoran Passage: mid to high teens from the SW of the 3-day forecast period.
The Mexican Riviera: They will continue to see light to moderate SW winds for the next 3 days.
