Looking down into the Sea this morning with the IR satellite I can see a few whispys passing over the cape region this morning but that is about it for any cloudiness in the Sea this morning. Then using an old weatherman trick, I looked outside and saw light bands of fluffys out to the east. They should burn off as soon as the sun comes up though.
Looking south to the west coast of Mexico I can see a few weak plumes of whispys moving shore from around Zihuatanejo south to Central America this morning.
Looking out into the Eastern Pacific basin and the ITCZ/Monsoon trough I can see that the zone is not quite as active as it has been for the past several days. Just some rather moderate thunderbumper working along the zone this morning with just a few clouds moving off.
The Gulf of Tehuantepec is quiet this morning with only very light winds in the forecast for the next 3 days.
That’s what is going on in our hood. Looking now north to the west coast of America of America where a rather weak storm will be bringing light rain and thunderbumpers to both northern California for the next couple of days.
The thunderbumpers are the area of concern because of the lightning they produce. The storm will be bringing gusterly conditions to an already very dry state and fire danger looms large. According to the California State Fire News there are currently 6 fires burning in California this morning.
In many areas dry thunderbumpers will develop, creating favorable conditions for fire ignition and rapid fire spread.
This Pacific storm, (actually there will be two), will not be of much help though. Northern California’s Sacramento valley and the foothills are expected to see light rain through Tuesday.
The first system is approaching southern California this morning and will bring gusterly conditions along with the light rain through Tuesday then another system is progged to move ashore in the later part of the week into the weekend bringing another chance of rain and thunderbumpers.
Looking over to the southwest where they can expect dry conditions today. In this image I can see most of the cloudiness is to the north of Tucson and Phoenix this morning but the forecast if for all the state to see periods of cloudiness today. That Pacific system is progged to bring a chance of showers tonight and into Monday along with cooler temperatures and gusterly winds at times. These conditions are expected to last all week with a few showers possible from time to time, mainly near the mountains.
Of course fire danger also looms large in the state.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence the northern coast of Sonora, in the Puerto Panesco area, will continue to see strong SE winds today before diminishing to the moderate ranges on Monday and Tuesday.
The rest of the Sonoran coast should see moderate SE today then moderate NW on Monday and Tuesday.
In general, on the Baja side the mid teens over the 3-day forecast period with today from the SE and Monday and Tuesday from the NE.
Here are the details for the winds for the 3-day forecast period.
The northern Sea, Baja side: moderate SW today and then light SW on Monday and Tuesday.
The central Sea, San Francisquito to Puerto Escondido: moderate SE today then moderate NE on Monday and Tuesday. Pleasant winds for the final day of the Loreto Fest.
The southern Sea: La Paz, the San Lorenzo channel and close by islands: light to moderate over the 3-day forecast period with SE today and NE for Monday and Tuesday.
The Sonoran passage: moderate SW today then NW for Monday and Tuesday.
The Mexican Riviera: Mazatlan light to moderate SW for the next 3 days. Puerto Vallarta and to the south mostly moderate NW for the 3-day forecast period.
