Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see we have had another cloudless 24 hours in the Sea of Cortez.
Due to a very active ITCZ/Monsoon trough the Mexican Riviera has had scattered bands of mostly light whispys passing over from around Cabo Corrienties south for the past 24 hours and It looks like that will continue today.
The seas have lain down in the Gulf of Tehuantepec and the winds are in the very moderate ranges. Ballpark around 14K northerlies are forecast for the next three days in the Gulf.
Looking out into the Eastern Pacific basin this morning where it is mostly clear all the way out to Hawaii this morning.
So not much going on in our hood, so looking now north to the west coast of America of America where at the top of this image I can see where a 1000 low has moved out of the Gulf of Alaska. It has worked it’s way down British Columbia coast during the night and this will be a weather maker for the Great Northwest today first bringing rain then snow by this evening. They can expect these condition to last until Tuesday when the system then moves off to the east.
This system will also affect Oregon and most of California by forcing the high to retreat out into the Pacific a bit and cooling off the coast for a few days. Inland temperatures won’t be affected much with northern California in the low 90s and southern California’s inland valleys in the low 80s. Along the coast the southern California daytime highs will be in mid 70s increasing to the mid 80s later in the week.
Looking now over to the southwest where this image is showing mostly clear skies this morning. High pressure will continue to build over the region leading to well above normal temperatures this week. The warmest days will occur today through Tuesday with triple digit highs expected on the lower deserts. It should start to cool a bit by mid week.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence it looks like the entire Sea will be seeing mostly moderate northerlies today. The next couple of days will have a southern flavor.
Here are the wind details for the 3-day forecast period.
The Northern Sea: moderate NW today, light SW tomorrow and then moderate SW on Tuesday.
The central Sea: moderate NE or NW today then moderate SE on Monday and Tuesday.
The southern Sea, Puerto Escondido and the islands north of La Paz and the San Lorenzo channel moderate southerlies for the 3-day forecast period. La Paz light NW today then moderate southerlies Monday and Tuesday.
The Sonoran Passage, from Mazatlan north to Guaymas: Mostly moderate WSW winds over the next 3 days.
The Mexican Riviera: Mazatlan today moderate WNW then Monday and Tuesday light SW winds. The rest of the Mexican Riviera just most winds with a southern component for the next 3 days.
Sunrise Temperature were up across the board as well as yesterday’s highs. The Sea should see temperatures in the mid to high 80s today.

73s Y’all
