.looking down into the sea this morning I can see a scattered band of moisture laden clouds moving up from the ITCZ that look like they will be passing over Baja from about Santa Rosalia south to the cape today. How much sun we will see I’m a bit iffy on. How about partial overcast today.
Looking over to the Mexican Riviera: They may also see some cloudyness from Mazatlan to Cabo Corrienties today.
Looking further south, it looks like the Tehuantepec is passable today, and the Papagayo gap winds will be in the 20-25 ranges today.
The ITCZ this morning is fairly active with a long line of thunderbumpers moving along 8 north. It is from these thumpers we are getting out overcast today.
Looking at the west coast of the Baja peninsula for any signs of a marine layer. I can’t see any, but those thin whispys are still covering the rest of the Eastern Pacific Basin out to Hawaii this morning.
Looking now up to the West Coast of America this morning. The big weather news is that big honkin’ low moving down the west coast. It is raining from Ensenada to the Oregon border this morning. For a change Portland and Seattle are seeing sunshine today. That will be short lived though as I can see another frigid system moving down the Aleutian chain. It should arrive later in the week.
Today for the west coast rain in the valleys and snow in the mountains. It is snowing in the upper Sacramento valley right now.
Over in the Great Basin cold and wintery conditions for the upper basin.
For the southwest, Arizona, mountain snow showers will increase today in coverage and intensity especially across the white mountains of SW Arizona. The main storm system will track across Arizona tomorrow and Thursday resulting in significant snow accumulations in Arizona’s mountains, perhaps down as low as the desert floors. Flooding could also be a problem in the valleys and deserts. The above forecast also applies to northern Baja as well.
This system is already affecting the winds in the far northern sea and it looks like by Wednesday the central sea will see some gusterly conditions.
But back down here today: We will be seeing some clouds. Temperatures will a tad cooler both for the daytime highs and the evening lows. As far as winds the northern sea will see some gusterly conditions today but the rest of the sea can expect very moderate northerlies.

Several folks have asked about the 73s at the end of my weather. This comes from the Morse code days when you would send a traditional friendly goodbye to whom you were talking with. It was easy to send. Da da dit dit dit for the 7 and backward for the 3, dit dit dit da da. It just was a lot easer to send in Mores code than “Y’all have a great day”.
I’m not sure where I picked up the y’all. Probably from my Texas relatives.
73s Y’all
